#ICATALIST had the honor of participating in the International Congress on Sustainability Research and Innovation 2024 (Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress)🌍, held from June 10 to 14 in #Helsinki. This event brought together scientists from around the world, as well as political representatives, funding agencies, and #NGOs, to discuss joint solutions to tackle the major challenges of sustainability 🌱. As part of the Rexus Project, where ICATALIST leads participatory activities, our colleague Bárbara Willaarts organized a session to exchange experiences on how to ensure research projects have a greater social impact 📊. During this session, case studies from various parts of the world were presented, addressing complex issues related to climate change adaptation 🌡️ and the need to promote cross-sectoral approaches in decision-making. The purpose of the session was to share experiences on best practices and highlight areas where transdisciplinary approaches need to be strengthened 🤝. It was an invaluable opportunity to learn and collaborate in the search for innovative and sustainable solutions 🌟. #Sustainability #Innovation #REXUS #ClimateChange #SocialImpact #Transdisciplinarity #BestPractices #Adaptation #CrossSectoralApproaches

📢 Just published: The report "Ambition, Action, Impact: the Ocean Decade Pathway to 2030 - Consolidated Outcomes of the Vision 2030 Process" identifies science, knowledge, capacity, resources, and infrastructure priorities that are needed to achieve a successful Ocean Decade. The #OceanDecade aims to transform the way that ocean science and knowledge is generated and used, and thus precipitate a shift from the ocean we have to the ocean we want by 2030. The Vision 2030 process, implemented over a period of twelve months in the lead-up to the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference, was centred around the ten Ocean Decade Challenges – which represent the most immediate and pressing needs for ocean knowledge – as a participatory and iterative process aimed at setting a tailored and specific strategic ambition, or ‘end goal’, and associated milestones for each Challenge. ➡️ Launched at the #AAORIAForum2024 this week, this report summarises the key findings and outcomes of this process, and outlines a pathway to deliver the science we need for the ocean we want by 2030. Download it here: https://ow.ly/CiKM50TIQ2G 🤝 We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Vision 2030 Working Group members for their invaluable contributions to this important Ocean Decade process

At International Living Future Institute’s #LivingFuture24 conference and Materials summit this week. So great to be in community with people making progress on common goals. Also, so much good food for thought that I am going to bring home. Too many things to recount here, but I will leave you with two things: This image - of one of nature’s key strategies - from Zeynep Arhon of Biomimicry 3.8 sums up the entire week for me and the collective action we have to take forward. Further on that topic from keynote speaker Marquise Stillwell: “Do we have everything we need? Do we need everything we have?? …It’s not about the built environment. It’s about the built community. We must design for the community. Center our processes around people […and] understand the way we live together to use our shared resources.” #LF24
