#Pistachio #processing plant with air vein #burner We have installed the air vein burner of a pistachio processing plant in Albacete, Castilla-La Mancha (#Spain). Our #thermal engineering company is currently carrying out tests at the customer’s factory with the aim of adjusting the process, optimizing results and increasing the quality of the pistachios. The Community of Castilla-La Mancha is the Spanish region most favored by the growing production of pistachios and other #nuts, due to the favorable climate with mild temperatures in winters and warm summers. Together with the communities of Andalusia, Extremadura and Castilla y León, it accounts for the largest area of pistachio cultivation and production. And this is how the demand for this dried fruit has led the region to bet on the added value of its food production and the sustainability of rural areas. How the pistachio processing plant works 1- Reception of the pistachio at the processing plant 2- Loading the harvest into the reception hopper 3- First cleaning. The leaf winnower and destemmer removes leaves and branches from harvesting 4- Peeling the pistachio 5- Arrival of the peeled pistachios to the flotation tank in charge of separating the full pistachios from the empty ones, so that they go to different elevator belts 6- Drying the pistachio. It is one of the most important phases, since it helps to achieve optimal conservation and quality, prevents the appearance of fungi and stabilizes the properties and characteristics of the fruits. https://lnkd.in/d3faEBz8

Capespan Grape Season Update – Week 51 & 52 🍇 As the year comes to a close, the 2024 grape season continues to thrive across Southern Africa. Here’s the latest update on progress, challenges, and successes from our key growing regions: Namibia (Namibia Grape Company) 🍇 The Aussenkehr area is nearing its final weeks, with Jack’s Salute™, Crimson, Magenta™, and the last Sweet Celebration™ being packed in Week 1. 🍇 Exceptional fruit quality is ensuring strong arrivals for the final Walvis Bay vessel sailing at the end of Week 1. This season has seen good volumes and outstanding arrivals from Namibia. Orange River (Capespan Farms) 🍇 The Orange River region experienced unexpected rain late in Week 52. Only one Capespan farm experienced rain, and as the earliest production area with only a couple of varieties left to harvest, it is expected to be the least impacted.  🍇 Large-sized, high-quality fruit continues to be packed, including Sweet Globe™, Ivory™, Sweet Celebration™, and the last Timpson™. 🍇 Upcoming varieties: Timco™, Melody™, and Jack’s Salute™ are set to start packing this week. Initial arrivals from Northern Cape farms have been of excellent quality. Western Cape 🍇 Olifants River: Harvesting began in Week 51 with Tawny Seedless (Lombardi) of exceptional size and colour. Larger volumes, including MIDNIGHT BEAUTY™\, SABLE™, Sweet Celebration™, Joybells™, and Timpson™, are on the way. This region, though small, consistently delivers top-tier quality. 🍇 Early Berg River: Early Sweet™ wraps up this week, with SABLE™ and Ivory™ starting next week. Excellent size and colour are expected. 🍇 Late Berg River & Hex River: Early delays have normalized, with Starlight™ already packing and Tawny Seedless starting this week. Favourable weather is supporting healthy vineyards and optimal ripening. Good volumes are expected from Week 2. The season’s success is a testament to the resilience and expertise of our farm teams. By closely monitoring FCM activity, growers can take timely action to protect their crops from infestation. A pilot study exploring the potential of pasture legumes as a food source for #Honeybees it on track to deliver valuable results to beekeepers. Researchers from NSW Department of Primary Industries have evaluated 22 pasture legumes to determine the most- and least-promising species for their honey production potential. The team have also broken new ground to refine and test the methodologies to compare traits across species — something that will underpin more detailed species comparisons in the future. REASONS THAT MAKE PERU A SUPERFOOD LAND Peru is one of the ten megadiverse countries in the world, which represents a great opportunity. Its geographical and microclimate diversity favors a great variety of superfoods to grow naturally and in abundance. Growing superfood - like Quinoa and Maca- is a heritage from thousands of years ago. Our farmers know nature, and are experts in planting and harvesting food. Native food plants number around 787 species, which are consumed in various forms (vegetables, starch, seeds, almonds, sap, latex, fruit, roots, tubers, bulbs, bark, flowers, and oil). Of these 107 are domesticated and exclusively cultivated; 160 are used wild, but are also cultivated; and the rest are exclusively wild. Most of the plants used as food are Amazonian (70%).
