We witnessed an excellent panel at the It's About People 2024 conference. The Future of European university integration and alliances was the main topic of discussion by four distinguished experts, who shared insights and debate strategies and answered the provocative question: Is Europe on the brink of creating multi-campus mega-universities? "European University Alliances now consist of 50 networks of universities from various European countries, encompassing 430 higher education institutions across 35 countries. With around 1700 associated partners from EU and non-EU universities, these alliances play a crucial role in advancing the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area, supported and funded by the EU. Strengthening their connections, these alliances aim to gain a collaborative advantage over non-member universities, enhancing the competitiveness of European universities globally and within the research market," Professor Dr Jurij Toplak explained in the introduction. In discussion, also participated: Jan Palmowski, 'A Conquest for Future Generations'? European Universities from Vision to Practice Nadia Manzoni, Taking the European Cooperation in Higher Education to the Next Level – What Does It Take? Agata Lambrechts, PhD, AFHEA, The European Universities initiative: between status hierarchies and inclusion

"As someone who started over two decades ago with a small departmental Research Experiences for Undergraduates program and then moved to open a campus-wide office at a Hispanic Serving Institution, working on COEUR 2.0 has been an extremely validating experience. It allowed me to team up with and hear from multiple contributors who have experienced firsthand the positive impact that undergraduate research, scholarly and creative inquiry continues to have at the national level on students from diverse backgrounds, with different academic and career interests, and from the full spectrum of higher education institutions. This richness of experiences and recommendations shared by program directors, mentors, evaluators, higher administrators and students will serve to inspire not only those who are starting to develop programs at their institutions, but also the more seasoned individuals who could in turn serve as allied voices to agencies, foundations, donors, and others at the state and federal levels." One of the main strategies for innovations at traditional universities is to grow independent innovative division. University colleges in the Netherlands and Germany are good examples of this approach. At this webinar we will travel to one of the oldest and most respected German universities to see the disruptive innovation from inside.
👩💻 Once again we are delighted to invite you to save the date for the next event in our #InnovativeUniversities global webinar series. 🕙 On March 7th, Paul Sterzel will give us insights into University College Freiburg. University College Freiburg was founded in 2012 with the goal of building a Liberal Education-based learning community. The context for this endeavor is the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg), a public German research university, and a higher education system characterized by massification, academic specialization, and research orientation. UCF has successfully maneuvered the intricacies of higher education politics and bureaucracy and established an interdisciplinary, internationally and student-oriented Liberal Arts and Sciences program. Beyond recognition in the Freiburg context, the broader impact is becoming more apparent, e.g., via their graduates or new Liberal Education initiatives in Germany. ⬇ Click below to register and hit share to spread the word! https://lnkd.in/ez3MfnYH
