Many potentials of informal architecture are still being researched and applied, prompting architects and urban designers to perceive this branch of architecture as an essential factor to be respected and developed rather than a nuisance to be eliminated. The utilization of materials in informal architecture is also a potential aspect that can be studied and applied in contemporary architecture. Our Research & Development team recently undertook a study to explore the power of regenerative design as it impacts our work, our industry and our future – it’s the next frontier of sustainability 🌿 Led by Yaara Plaves, Paris Jacobs, Talia Uylaki and Emil Jonescu, PhD, the team conducted an audience poll of key stakeholders in the Australian built environment context to find out more. Overwhelmingly, the responses indicated that while regenerative design can foster transformative change towards a sustainable future, the concept is largely misunderstood, lacks a unified definition and is not being used in the built environment.
