Europe's agricultural landscape is transforming, with #farmers leading the push for more sustainable practices. 🌍🚜 Many farmers are struggling to adapt due to economic pressures and complex EU regulations, often feeling overwhelmed by administrative burdens. 💼😓 Policy frameworks such as the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are designed to support farmers, improve agricultural productivity and profitability, and address climate change. 🌱📈 But a criticism of the existing CAP is that it does not go far enough to reward sustainable farming practices, and rarely involves farmers in policy-making. 🏛️🤷♂️ In response to these challenges, we’re excited to partner with the EARA | European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture on the CAP Pilot Program and proof-of-concept study. 🌳 I recently visited a friend's farm that grows almonds, pistachios and olives. 🤌 One-third of the world's food production and 32% of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions originate from smallholder farms. 💰 Businesses are still working towards scaling up and successfully supporting farmers in the shift to regenerative agriculture. Despite the challenges, there is some good news: 🙌🏻 I recently read that investors are gearing up to boost funding for new farming methods by 15% in their upcoming investment rounds. 📊 The data speaks volumes – addressing the smallholder challenge is crucial for ensuring food security and meeting climate objectives. #Agriculture #RegenerativeFarming #Sustainability #Investment #FoodSecurity #ClimateAction

This #EarthDay2024, CNFA highlights the importance of #climatesmart agriculture in addressing environmental shocks and promoting sustainable agriculture sector growth. In #Niger, the Feed the Future-funded USAID Yalwa activity helped advance the production and adoption of locally-sourced, organic and cost-efficient fertilizer as an alternative to imported varieties susceptible to price shocks. The co-benefits to farmer incomes, community resilience and ecological health shows how agricultural development and good environmental stewardship can help meet the world’s growing demand for food. #EarthDay2024

In #Kyrgyzstan, Nurbek and his team have found a drought-resistant cotton seed that has boosted yields by over 50%.
