It all started some years back, precisely in 2021, when I was usually led by other senior colleagues whenever our chambers are having a moot. My first appearance, despite not being the lead counsel, was so terrifying for me, I was scared of being drilled and probably end up fucking up, well, I prepared well and did my best. The next moot I participated in, I was again led by a senior colleague, at this stage however, I was more confident and gutsy unlike the first one. In all of these I was doing, I was keenly concentrating and learning from the experienced counsels and the judges presiding over the moot, I usually put down the new things I learnt to put it to proper use when the need arises. Fast forward to my second year, I started taking up lead counsel position, leading junior colleagues to moot, at that very moment, I appreciated my younger self for putting my precious time into learning procedures. Currently in my third year, and I have a lot to be thankful for, I am lucky to be surrounded by passionate colleagues who keep instilling this knowledge in me and me always being ready to learn. Apparently, we are doing better off than the way we started, we might still have a lot to learn, but thankfully, we aren't the same persons we were some years back. Until the goal is reached, we will keep striving to achieve growth, both personally, professionally and in all aspects of life. #lmc21dayslinkedinchallenge

Celebrating International Education Week: A Journey of Unity, Diversity, and Inclusion In the wake of recent elections and amidst global uncertainties, it's clear that our shared humanity is what truly unites us. As we reflect on this International Education Week, I am reminded of the power of connection in bridging divides and fostering understanding. At YFU USA, we witness daily how cultural exchange transforms not just students, but host families, schools, and entire communities. Each exchange represents a step toward a more united, compassionate world—one that values diversity and thrives on inclusion. The stories of students stepping out of their comfort zones, of families opening their homes and hearts to "the world," inspire us to see beyond borders and celebrate the beauty in our differences. Let us not lose sight of this. Let this week serve as a reminder: every conversation, every cultural connection, every act of openness, every act of kindness matters. Together, we are building a world where understanding and empathy shine brighter than division. If you've ever hosted, studied abroad, or simply shared your culture with someone new, thank you. You are the bridge-builders, the peacemakers, and the changemakers. Let's continue this work—one person, one exchange, one connection at a time. #InternationalEducationWeek #WeAreYFU #YFUSpirit #YFU #YFUUSA #UnityThroughExchange #CulturalDiversity #GlobalCitizenship #InclusionMatters

In a landmark move aimed at bolstering the pillars of justice, Debre Tabor University, the Justice Directorate of South Gondar Zone, and the Office of the President of the South Gondar Zone High Court have signed a memorandum of understanding today. This momentous agreement ushers in a new era of collaborative efforts dedicated to fortifying the judicial framework of the region and nurturing a culture of justice that thrives on integrity and the rule of law. The accord, meticulously crafted and profoundly purposeful, seeks to amalgamate the intellectual prowess of Debre Tabor University with the authoritative experience of the justice institutions. Together, these entities will embark on a journey of academic and practical engagements—hosting legal workshops, facilitating internships, and advancing research initiatives to elevate the standards of jurisprudence. “Justice is not merely a system but a sacred covenant with society,” remarked a key signatory, underscoring the profound impact this collaboration aspires to achieve. United in vision, the institutions pledge to create a realm where fairness reigns supreme and the pursuit of justice flourishes, unmarred by inequity. Another Vis Moot season is closing it's end. This year I'm acting as an arbitrator in Vienna and participated in the ranking of the memoranda's while coaching the team of University of Eastern Finland. The best performing teams in Vienna will be ranked in a couple of days. Where this is undoubtedly an amazing achievement, it wont be reality for most of the teams. In this regard, I want to highlight a bit of a cliché: Participating in the Vis Moot puts you to a limited group of people and in my opinion already this makes you a "winner". Not everyone is willing to put in the effort that is required. In my eyes, putting in the full effort is what counts and this teaches you practical advocacy skills such as how to work in a intensive team project, how to draft a memorandum or how to argue your case in front of a tribunal. Having this experience already as a student is a game changer when you transfer from studying to the professional field! Besides all the practical skills and substance knowledge, the Moot spirit and community is special. Personally I've got to know many amazing people through the Vis Moot (including, but not in any way limited to the guys in the picture 👊). The Moot brings students, professors and practioners from different backgrounds together, and creates an unique atmosphere. It feels great to make my own small contribution to it now and in the future. Thank you everyone involved and best of luck to all the teams for the remaining rounds! 👏 #vismoot #arbitration #ICC #CISG

Henry Anumudu With particular respect to developing the #EducationQuality in Africa specifically so as to contribute to endowing our continent with a #QualityEducation, from my own end me too, I have been seeking and am still in quest of an opportunity through which I can do my “Hummingbird’s Bit” (see <https://lnkd.in/dKNf6AfT>). You can check this out from a LinkedIn article of February 19, 2024 in which I expressed my interest and readiness theretowards at <https://lnkd.in/dmbuP6Gj>, more especially in this article’s last section titled 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭.
I was invited to a dinner and awards event with Princess Anne at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. The most enjoyable part of the evening were the conversations and the people I got to meet. Just days before the dinner, the New York Times published an article titled “The World Is Becoming More African,” which had gone viral and sparked conversations even here on LinkedIn. So, it was only natural that the subject surfaced and we dug into it in small talks before dinner. My thought here has always been on the importance of investing in our capacity to educate our growing population of young people — to raise the standards of our education and build the skills and mindset necessary for us all to thrive. As I heard Tolu say in a recent conversation, ‘it’s not just about the numbers, it’s also how prepared they are to create and take on new opportunities’. So, it’s always so encouraging to see institutions and people investing time and resources in raising the standard of education across the continent — in the classroom and beyond it. And I think this should be our collective focus for the next decade. How do we raise the bar on the quality of education and how do we get more people to care about this mission!! Please share some examples of organisations and people you know already on this mission; let’s connect below👇🏾

Raising the standards of education with young people is a very good foundation for apt learning. Strategies for achieving a solid standard of education may encompass: 1. A holistic approach which would encompass not only academic attainment but also personal growth, character development and social skills. 2. Student engagement which should be comprised of strategies to increase the students engagement such as using interactive learning activities, project-based learning and real world interactions to apply knowledge. 3. Taking note of *individual preferences* which is realizing that every individual should have their learning approach. Personalized learning should be encouraged which would resonate with each student. 4. Critical thinking skills- There is a great need to embed critical thinking and encourage students to analyze and question information in order to have deeper understanding. 5. Collaborative learning: Recommend collaborative learning environments where students can connect, communicate and problem-solving hereby fostering team work and co-operation. 6. Lifelong learning: Emphasize the notion of education as a lifelong journey, instilling in students a passion for learning and a curiosity to explore new ideas and perspectives beyond the classroom.
