What do you think of cascade heat pump systems? 🤔
In case you don't know, a cascaded system is when two or more heat pump units work together to meet a building’s space heating or DHW needs.
This might involve them working together to create a great amount of heat (eg. 4x 50 kW for 200 kW).
Or it might involve one supplying the next so that they can generate specific temperatures.
For the right business, cascaded systems can be absolutely brilliant. They can help...
👉 Generate high temperatures
👉 Make retrofit straightforward
👉 Meet fluctuating temperature demands
However, it's worth bearing in mind that cascade systems often come with cost implications and there are alternatives that may help a business to reach their end goal more cost-effectively.
For instance, Clade has just launched the Elm, which is a single stage heat pump that does the job of a cascade.
Ultimately, this shows how important it is to hire a system designer who takes the time to understand your business' exact needs and factors in the full life cost.
