Art therapy has supported improved #mental #health outcomes for people who have experienced trauma, people with #eating #disorders, #schizophrenia and #dementia, as well as children with #autism. #Art #therapy has also been linked to improved outcomes for people with a range of physical health conditions. These include lower levels of #anxiety, #depression and #fatigue among people with #cancer, enhanced psychological stability for patients with heart #disease, and improved social connection among people who have experienced a traumatic #brain #injury.

Bessel in a very recent interview also talks of trauma as adhesive4identity as 'a dangerous thing' Somewhat similar, recently deceased Irish psychiatrist Ivor Browne spoke of trauma in terms of 'frozen present' So, what would solidify something in the present? Ivor Browne like Peter Fonagy talks of 'pseudo science'-'pre-mental equivalence' which goes back2neurologist Freud, his ideas on the constancy principle lens the 'repetition compulsion.' In even starker terminology, the cryptic Hegel in his purvey of the historical audit, within his vantage point of 18th/19th Century, 'history as a slaughter bench/slaughter of innocence. Around the same time, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe says 'In nature, we never see anything isolated, but everything in connection with something else which is before it, beside it, under it, and over it.' Looking at Ireland from Act of Union in the early 1800s/Catholic Emancipation and on to 1845-1922 (Ferriter, 2009 Occasions of Sin), apart from horror of Famine, refers2 'Devotional Revolution' (Emmet Larkin) as significantly underpinned by the radical fundamentalism of Vatican One in Rome, in combo with the Anglo-Irish Estates/French/Spain/Italian Clerical/Principalities&Estates, and, for Ireland, with signifiant USA help from Irish generations who had left our shores in prior centuries. "Historically, trauma studies have neglected vulnerable populations, as well as experience/aftermath of trauma in non-Western cultures. Although art/literature are replete with descriptions of posttrauma reactions in non-Western countries devastated by war, genocide&other geopolitical conflicts, it is unclear, if these reactions map neatly onto current Western definitions of ASD/PTSD.
