Missed lessons = lost potential ⬇️ Around 32 MILLION days of school learning were lost in 22/23. And there is a stark social injustice in who is affected: the children losing the most learning are those facing the greatest challenges in their lives. That’s why we, alongside Impetus - Backing the best, IPPR and Mission 44 have recently launched the Who Is Losing Learning? Report, which explores the rising tide of lost learning and sets out a strong economic case to invest in reducing escalations across mainstream schools. I shared this the other day, but it fell through a glitch in the LinkedIniverse - so here it is again.... It's time to rethink our understanding of what 'exclusion' looks like for young people in education. It's time to stop the ridiculous binary discourse, which insists the only choice is 'the one' or 'the 29'. It's time to focus on early intervention; realising that there is a continuum of exclusion. It's time to accept that self-exclusion is exclusion, too. We *can* change the landscape. We *can* make sure that all of our children have access to the education they deserve. It's simpler - and more affordable - than you might think; and it's in the best interests of *all* of us, as this ⬇ powerful, incisive report from The Difference, alongside Impetus - Backing the best, IPPR and Mission 44, makes clear. Please read, share, and join the conversation...

Day 27 of 30-day challenge #areweready? #educate #digitalskillsineducation The biggest question that is always on my mind..."What if another pandemic similar to Covid19 hits again?" From our experiences, what lessons did we draw? Me? The birth of Umliba Loyembili Edupreneurs. Being a teacher during the outbreak and lockdowns made me realise the need for change in our teaching and learning. As you can recall, a lot of schools had to close, such that there was no teaching and learning happening. A majority of private schools (whose source of income is from school fees) suffered major losses as they had to maintain the payments of teacher salaries, whilst no learning was taking place, making parents not to pay. Our government tried to have classes on radio and on the local newspapers. I cannot really say if this was effective or not, but the lack of digital skills by our teachers was a major blow. Now, about 2 years later, what have we done? Have we prepared ourselves should something worse come? We as Umliba Loyembili Edupreneurs want to bridge that gap. Through the equipping of teachers in digital skills for teaching and learning, learning materials and lessons are made available both online and offline, permitting accessibility and flexibility for learners without the hindrance of physical barriers. As our teachers use the technology, the basic digital skills are passed down to our learners as they use technology in their learning. Schools can have both in-person and online lessons. Our unemployed teachers can run online tutoring businesses and make a living.... #30dayedupreneurshipchallengewithNomfundo

🌍🎓 Working towards SDG 4: Quality Education for All 🎓🌍 Proud to share that a curriculum I developed for Year 7 students is now actively being used by homeschooling families around the world and I can't wait to see these students progress! This is aimed at overcoming barriers like financial hardship, remote living, and conflict—ensuring that education is accessible to all, no matter their circumstances. 📚✨ We can do more to promote education for everyone: 🌐 Leveraging social media to raise awareness of education's importance. 📱 Promoting free educational apps to make learning accessible. 🤝 Building networks and communities on platforms like LinkedIn to support each other in this mission. Education is a right, not a privilege. Let's continue working together to break down barriers and create opportunities for all! 💪 #SDG4 #EducationForAll #QualityEducation #Homeschooling #GlobalCitizens #EdTech
