🌱 Inspiring Growth in Belize! 🌱 We are wrapping up an incredible week in Belize as part of the Global Learning Route (Dec 8–15) organized by Procasur, with support from FAO and AgriCord, funded by the FO4ACP programme. 🌍💡 One highlight of the week was visiting the Concepción Vegetable Farmers’ Cooperative Society LTD in Corozal district. Established in 2020, this cooperative comprises 12 members, including 3 youth and 1 woman. Despite facing challenges like limited credit access, climate-related crop losses, and difficulties attracting youth and women, they are now thriving with support from the FO4ACP programme: 🚜 Boosting Productivity: Investments in drones, seeding machinery, and water wells have improved productivity and built resilience against climate change. 💳 Securing Financial Independence: The cooperative overcame credit barriers by securing loans, repaying them, and growing their savings. 🌟 Fostering Inclusion: Flexible entry fee options have helped attract new youth members, ensuring a more inclusive future. Through FO4ACP, members also participated in Procasur’s Learning Route in Colombia, where they gained insights into hydroponic farming. With programme support, they are now introducing hydroponics and solar panels to improve sustainability and climate resilience. 🌞🌿 The cooperative’s transformation from challenges to success is a testament to what dedication, innovation, and collaboration can achieve.
