Government representatives are busy finalizing the draft outcome that aims to set the course for a #UN 2.0, fit for the future and fit for current challenges and crisis facing the world, particularly those most left behind. This event is organized by the Historic Preservation and Community Planning Program at the College of Charleston, in collaboration with T20 Brazil Task Force 6 (TF06) on strengthening multilateralism and global governance. This panel discussion will focus on multilateral strategies for reconstruction and rebuilding after wars and conflicts. We will examine the roles of global governance mechanisms such as the G20, UN, and WTO in supporting post-conflict recovery efforts. The event will highlight inclusive governance, equitable economic recovery, cultural heritage reconstruction and innovative approaches such as the “One Health” strategy, while advocating for reforms in global institutions 

Have you heard of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals? The 17 overarching goals encapsulate the greatest challenge facing our planet and its people, as well as group the for-good efforts of NGOs, governments, and the private sector. The UN has set a milestone of 2030 for collective global project on the goals. A status report last year found that although we are behind on the majority of goals, those that are seeing significant progress also have the most collaboration. Public-private partnerships really do work. Small business innovation can have a massive impact. Nonprofits can often feel like they exist in a silo, with little help. The UN SDG's provide a framework to visualize individual work within a tapestry of efforts. Technology is a factor in accelerating progress, serving as a connector of different groups, and often negatively impacting climate and natural resources. How does your work factor into the UN SDGs? The United Nations General Assembly will hold a Summit of the Future on 22-23 September 2024, to be preceded by Action Days on 21 and 22 September 2024. United Nations Observances The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool. The United Nations observes designated days, weeks, years, and decades, each with a theme, or topic. By creating special observances, the United Nations promotes international awareness and action on these issues. Each international day offers many actors the opportunity to organize activities related to the theme of the day. Organizations and offices of the United Nations system, and most importantly, governments, civil society, the public and private sectors, schools, universities and, more generally, citizens, make an international day a springboard for awareness-raising actions. The majority of observances have been established by resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, although some have been designated by UN specialized agencies. The United Nations also observes anniversaries of key events in its history.
