Norwegian fresh salmon sales rise further, average price continues at lowest in two years Norway's total fresh salmon exports rose week-on-week to 27,332 metric tons during week 36 (Sept. 2-8) of 2024. That is up by 7% year-on-year compared to week 36 2023. The average free on board (FOB) Oslo price fell slightly to NOK 73.70 (€6.22/$6.91) per kilogram, the lowest since week 46 of 2023, according to data published by the Norwegian Seafood Council, also available in the Undercurrent News prices portal. Norwegian fresh salmon sales rebound across most main markets Norway's total fresh salmon exports rose to 12,997 metric tons during week 17 (April 22-28) of 2024, up by 10% week-on-week but down 26% year-on-year. The average free-on-board (FOB) Oslo price fell again to NOK 119.61 (€10.11/$10.82) per kilogram, down by 1% from the week before but still up 7% y-o-y, according to data published by the Norwegian Seafood Council, also available in the Undercurrent News prices portal. While visiting with the Wyoming Stock Growers Assn the #foodsystems dots began to connect. Sure, Wyoming beef can command top dollar at restaurants in New York and Tokyo. But public food consumption trends of the 90s-10s also demanded “lean” hamburger — meaning it requires leaner beef inputs from Brazil and Argentina. Here’s a great article from #Montana on the Old Salt Co-op — different state, but similar forces at work. Local sourcing is a key driver of a healthy and resilient food system — and sourcing is just the start. With the #FoodFreedomAct, Wyoming enabled intrastate sale of meat and game processed at state processors, decreasing the bottleneck of USDA processing facilities.
