If we want regenerative agricultural practices to become the norm, there should be a consumer demand for produce grown using these principles. But how to create consumer demand? Creating demand starts with understanding consumers. So we did what we always do. Being part of EIT Foods #consumerobservatory, we listened to what consumers have to say about the topic. The results are now available. Download the report for free here: https://lnkd.in/e6CrNszK And if you're interested in consumer insights on sustainable and healthy food, check out all the reports that are available here: https://lnkd.in/eEyuvxMb
💡 If there is a clear consumer preference for products produced through regenerative practices, the benefits for farmers to switch would be clearer, and the risks would be smaller. This is why we investigated how European consumers currently perceive regenerative agriculture and how the consumption of regenerative agriculture could possibly be stimulated. We conducted the study on behalf of EIT Food’s #ConsumerObservatory. Some of the main findings: 1. Consumers confuse regenerative agriculture with organic agriculture. 2. Health and taste are the biggest drivers and possible triggers to consume food products produced through regenerative methods. 3. Consumers believe that regenerative agriculture is beneficial for farmers in the long-run, but difficult in the short-term. 🌱 Regenerative Agriculture? What's Your Take? 🌱 Over the past few months, there has been a growing conversation around the transition to regenerative agriculture, and the discussion is quickly moving to the next phase. Some key players in the food value chain, like McCain Foods, PepsiCo, and Unilever, are leading the way by implementing holistic frameworks for their farmers. Others are quickly following, advocating for unified frameworks, standards, metrics, and measurements. But what is regenerative agriculture? A newfangled term or a promising way forward? Many companies promote #RegenerativeAgriculture as a result-oriented approach to improve the impact on #soilhealth, #water, #biodiversity, and #climate. But what this means and looks like in practice will be explored by me and my colleagues Mukaila Olagoke Somoye, Dr. Michael Kühnen at this year's Regenerative Agriculture Summit Series in Amsterdam. We at ELFIN Consulting GmbH are supporting industry players from the Food Value Chain as well as seed and CPP companies in setting, implementing and reporting on commitments and ambitions. We're also excited to go beyond and exchange with the textile companies on their journey towards regenerative agriculture.

Developing a more sustainable food system is becoming a top priority for many companies that are now investigating new and better approaches like regenerative agriculture. Cargill is helping farmers adopt these practices with a program called RegenConnect® that determines the measures that will work best for each farm and compensates farmers for their positive environmental impacts. In this Supply Chain Sustainability Story, learn how Cargill is promoting farmer resilience and extending those impacts to help brands meet their Scope 3 emissions. #SustainableFoods #RegenerativeAgriculture https://ow.ly/sAfp50SECWP

We just had our first Regenified™ verification visit/audit two weeks ago. We're looking forward to finding out at what tier we enter the marketplace. For 2024 we could only get verified on 4 enterprises; apples, blueberries, pork, and lamb. In 2025 we can get verified for eggs, chicken, beef, maple syrup, honey, timber, ornamental native herbaceous perennials, garlic, and maybe even popcorn!
