Cultural sustainability relates to Indigenous people, ethnic groups and local communities nurturing, sustaining and protecting their traditional cultural expressions and associated knowledge systems. Interdependence, interconnectedness, kin and care are multi-dimensional values of a culturally sustainable worldview. In this edition, we will hear from speakers who manifest these values in transformational and inspirational ways that are changing systems, minds and hearts. And the largest European movement for sustainable cities and towns is born - in Aalborg⭐    The year is 1994 and the beginning of The Aalborg Charter - an urban sustainability initiative signed by more than 3,000 local authorities from over 40 countries.    The Aalborg Charter was approved by the participants at the first European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns in Aalborg, Denmark in 1994.     In 2024 the conference returns as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Aalborg Charter. Before, during and after the international conference the city will be filled with green activities and events, including: - The Net Zero Pathways conference and - Aalborg's 8th Sustainability Festival. We have labeled it, Aalborg 2024.   The climate challenges are massive and overwhelming. Aalborg 2024 is a new chance for Europe to take action. It’s our cities our responsibility. With the #SBEP Mediterranean workshop 'The key towards Mediterranean regional Sustainability' at the Metropolitan Expo, Athens, Greece (#Posidonia2024) we open a series of 5 regional initiatives, whose aim is to decline the policy priorities of the local dimension of the Blue economy, having in mind the all European scope of the project. If I should summarise the aim of our event, I would say that this is a mutual meeting, dialogue and knowledge between different actors, all of them having care of the same goal: the sustainabiliy of the MED Sea.
