For years, something really bugged me about my business: Grandfather Pricing. I used to think it was just my issue, but after chatting with Carl on my recent podcast, I learned it's a challenge for many businesses. So, what is it? Grandfather pricing is when you give your first clients a lower rate, and as your business grows, their rate stays the same, while new clients pay more. In the beginning, it’s great! It builds loyalty and rewards early clients. But as your business grows, you end up with different clients paying different rates, which can feel... well, unfair. Here’s what I realised: 1. Without those first clients, my business might not even exist. 2. Keeping the grandfather pricing shows long-term clients that we value them. 3. For new clients, it's all about communication. Costs rise, and it’s okay to adjust prices with new clients. Once I embraced these points, the "problem" disappeared. Grandfather pricing became my way of saying "Thank you" to my first supporters.

I struggle to experience the highs in business. But after 30+ episodes of my podcast, and nearly 2 years working directly with founders… I’ve realised not only am I not alone, there is also a crucial life lesson to learn from it all: → To remain steady in all situations. Business (and life) has its ups and downs: The day you sign that huge contract ✅ The moment you lose a pretty big client ❌ The day you launch a new and exciting offer ✅ The months of hard work and expenses leading up ❌ The day you get to a milestone or goal that you’ve aimed for ✅ The day you fall sort and take a few steps backwards ❌ It can be tough. And the thing that always stood out to me was that I struggled to celebrate the “good” moments. The wins, the clients or the contracts. I always felt (and still feel) like there is more to be done. But recently I realised something important: That same feeling applies to the lows. - I recognise a setback is just a setback. - I quickly know it’s not the end of the world. - I focus on actions that can be taken to move forward. I don't overreact. And looking back, this has really been a big advantage. So today I just have this 1 quick lesson to share: Focus on staying steady from one day to the next ✅ Of course take a second to enjoy the highs, and take time to reflect on the lows. But don’t let either of them fully take over. That way not only are you prepared for anything that’s to come negatively… But you never lose focus on what you can do to move forward!
