🎯 Mission accomplished For the third time since 2022, Belgian Cyber Command's experts contributed to the deployment of the EU's Cyber Rapid Response Team (CRRT) recently deployed in Moldova to support their cyber security during the first round of presidential election and the referendum on anchoring EU accession in the constitution. 💡 What’s the CRRT? The project CRRT is part of the EU Permanent Structured Cooperation in Defence (PESCO) initiative launched in 2017. It is based on the sharing of strengths from several European countries (including Belgium) and aims to strengthen cooperation in cyber defence. The main mission of the CRRT is to assist countries that request it in the event of major cyber-attacks 📌 by providing expertise and technical resources to respond quickly and effectively to such incidents, 📌 by preventing cyber-attacks through audits and surveillance. 🛡 Concretly CRRT can be deployed in Member States and non-Member States to respond to a variety of cyber threats, including attacks on critical infrastructure, government computer networks and other vulnerable sectors. This reflects our commitment and our collective effort to build a safer and more resilient Europe. 🔗 More about the CRRT and this deployment : https://lnkd.in/dwVaQ7Gq

Expectations and Reality of Cyber Warfare: What Ukraine Faced and How it Responded to Cyber Aggression. The study analyzes the experience of Ukrainian cyber professionals in countering Russian cyberattacks after February 24, 2022. The study found that previous expectations of the scale and destructiveness of the attacks were overestimated, and the actual consequences were less catastrophic. Despite the general uncertainty about preparedness for attacks, Ukrainian organizations were able to effectively counteract due to preliminary measures and coordination with international and private partners. The role of cyber volunteers and international technical assistance was also crucial. The study also emphasizes the need for further development of cyber literacy, private sector engagement, and improvement of coordination procedures. 🚨 CISA has added a critical vulnerability (CVE-2023-28461) in Array Networks secure access gateways to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. Rated 9.8 on the CVSS scale, the flaw enables remote code execution due to missing authentication. Despite a March 2023 patch, the vulnerability is actively exploited by the China-linked Earth Kasha group (MirrorFace), targeting entities in Japan, Taiwan, India, Europe, and beyond. Earth Kasha also exploits other vulnerabilities, like Proself (CVE-2023-45727) and Fortinet FortiOS/FortiProxy (CVE-2023-27997), to gain initial access. ⚠️ Recent campaigns include delivering the ANEL backdoor to a European diplomatic target using the World Expo 2025 as a lure. CISA has set a December 16, 2024, deadline for federal agencies to patch affected systems. With over 440,000 exposed systems still at risk, organizations must act swiftly. Recommended actions include prompt patching, minimizing internet exposure, and leveraging threat intelligence to counter ongoing attacks. ‼️ For more insights 👉 https://buff.ly/4fNsEiK #CyberSecurity #VulnerabilityManagement #PatchUpdate #ThreatIntelligence #CyberThreats #EarthKasha #MirrorFace #CISA #CriticalInfrastructure #InfoSec #ZeroDay #NetworkSecurity #SecureAccess #CyberResilience

Emerging Cybersecurity Challenges:A Focus on Iranian National Security In an era where digital threats loom larger than ever, the cybersecurity landscape continues to evolve, presenting new challenges and strategic imperatives. My recent study, conducted as part of my Master’s course in Foreign Policy at the University of Genova, delves into these issues with a specific focus on Iran—a nation at the frontline of cyber warfare. We've seen a transformative shift from traditional security paradigms to the cyber domain, accelerated by rapid technological advancements. This transition underscores the importance of robust national cyber defenses. My analysis highlights key incidents, such as the Stuxnet attack of 2010 and the first drone hijacking in history in 2011, illustrating the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures. Iran's response, through strategic research and alliances, particularly with China, aims at bolstering its capabilities. Recommendations from our study advocate for the strengthening of cyber troops, development of local technologies, and a strategic veil of secrecy to keep adversaries in the dark, mirroring successful global strategies. For those interested in how nations like Iran navigate their cybersecurity strategies amidst regional and global tensions, take a look at my full presentation on SlideShare [Insert Link]. Let’s discuss how countries can fortify their defenses against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. How do you see the evolution of national cybersecurity strategies in response to such challenges? #Cybersecurity #NationalSecurity #Iran #DigitalWarfare #ForeignPolicy #UniversityOfGenova #CyberDefense
