🌍🤝 Building Networks Beyond Borders: A Key for International Students 🤝🌍 Moving to a new country isn’t just about attending lectures or managing part-time jobs—it’s about building meaningful relationships, exploring diverse cultures, and understanding new perspectives. As an international student at University of Suffolk, I’ve discovered how important networking is - not just for personal growth but also for future opportunities. The university organizes many events on campus, including guest lectures, networking sessions, open days and cultural activities, which are perfect for connecting with inspiring individuals. Here’s how I’ve been building my network so far: 1️⃣ Campus Events: The events at University bring together professionals, alumni, and peers. These sessions don’t just provide knowledge but also create connections that last beyond the classroom. 2️⃣ Interactive Classrooms: The teaching style in the UK encourages discussions, and professors here are approachable, often sharing real-world insights that are priceless for international students. 3️⃣ Platforms like LinkedIn: Social platforms have been a powerful tool for me to connect with professionals and alumni in the study-abroad industry. If you’re a student planning to study abroad or even an agent/business helping students achieve their dream, let’s connect! I’d love to share insights about life as an international student, tips for navigating this journey, and how to make the most of opportunities in the UK. Networking is not just about finding opportunities—it’s about learning, sharing, and growing together. 🌟 #StudyAbroad #Networking #UniversityOfSuffolk #InternationalStudents #GlobalConnections #StudentLife #UKEducation #CareerDevelopment #HigherEducation

Back in Australia today and I was just thinking about how much I love conferences. I think we often approach conferences with the usual checklist in mind: professional development, networking, and knowledge-sharing. These are the predictable pillars of why we attend, the tangible outcomes we can measure. However, I would argue that some of the highest impact lies in the community. The serendipitous chance encounters, reigniting old conversations, cultural exchanges, late nights, and moments of shared purpose. All the stuff that stays with you long after the event ends. The impact of these moments are hard to quantify but perhaps that’s the point. A reminder that progress—personal and professional—is built on shared humanity. On August 29, 2024, I had the privilege of attending the international student panel. Hosted by the College of Business Administration in honor of international day. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Engaging with speakers from diverse backgrounds provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges and triumphs faced by individuals from around the world. Here are a few key takeaways from this enlightening event: 1. Language Barriers: Many speakers shared their experiences of overcoming significant hurdles when first arriving in the U.S. The struggle to master English and construct coherent sentences is a common challenge for international newcomers. 2. Technological Adaptation: For those coming from countries with limited access to technology, adapting to new tech tools and systems in the U.S. can be daunting yet crucial for success. 3. Educational Rigor: The competitive nature of schooling in various countries is often intense, with strict academic expectations that shape students’ experiences and aspirations. Overall, the day was a powerful reminder of the diverse experiences and perspectives that international students bring with them. It was eye-opening to reflect on how different my own upbringing was compared to theirs, and I deeply appreciate the resilience and ambition of those who come here seeking new opportunities. “Being an International Student Has its Good & Bad” Daniel Bayeshea Krystal Trone Thank you for orchestrating a great event. I look forward to seeing how these experiences continue to shape and enrich our community.
