This is a pretty interesting use of SN-MT for mid-board applications. Its compact, dense and stackable so it fits neatly into the small spaces afforded to fiber optic connectivity within high data-rate switches. Whether, CPO switch manufacturers will deploy mid-board in favour of Senko Advanced Components detachable MPC PIC connector, I’m not sure. A tradition is to bring together a large community of experts in the domain of mobility, electronics, semiconductors, software to discuss opportunities to bring the industry forward together. ARCHIMEDES project is just one in a long series of important initiatives that will give the industry guiding in understanding the application of new technologies like SiC and GaN in new use cases like the bidirectional charging with long lifetime. The next challenge will be the stabilisation of the power grid in a world where rapidly reacting inverters will replace rotating machines with high inertia, interconnections between suburbs through DC links to shift power from one area to another and the creation of DC Microgrids in houses to reduce the losses in transformation of energy. Ultimately, EV chargers will no longer be needed in cars. But this is still a long way to go.
