I’m here to lead the fair-chance movement. This is more than a job; it’s my calling. I was created to help millions of people find hope, redemption, and ultimately, self-actualization. I’m not just a talking head. I’m a builder and a doer, as capable as anyone, but with more grit. Honest Jobs is used by hundreds of thousands of justice-impacted people every month to connect with fair-chance employers and critical resource providers nationally. I’m proud of what my team has accomplished, but we have even bigger dreams that are clearly within reach: - Empowering every incarcerated person to come home with a high-quality and up-to-date reentry plan - Partnering with education and upskilling organizations to increase career mobility - Building solutions to housing barriers through partnerships and in-house solutions - Building industry-specific coalitions to build trust and drive change - Providing quality training to employers, reentry professionals, community corrections, and justice-impacted individuals - Advocating for policies that reduce unnecessary collateral consequences - And more. #GodsPlan #FairChance #SecondChance #HonestJobs

A New Era of Civic Engagement. On 25th July 2024, Young Kenyans armed with a phone and a flag, stormed Parliament in a demonstration of collective outrage against proposed tax increases. These protests, organized organically through social media platforms, mark a pivotal moment in the intersection of technology and civic engagement. As a technology enthusiast, I find this moment both inspiring and indicative of the transformative power of digital tools in promoting participatory democracy and modern activism. What stands out is the decentralized nature of the demonstrations, operating without centralized leadership but unified through the connective power of social media, achieving rapid mobilization and galvanizing global support. Social media platforms, particularly Twitter and TikTok, played a crucial role in co-ordinating these protests through enabling real-time communication, fostering a sense of community and a shared purpose among the protesters. Hashtags, live updates, viral photos and videos became the tools of this digital rebellion. The impact was monumental. Faced with mounting pressure, the president opted not to sign the proposed finance bill into law and committed to implementing austerity measures. Moreover, the president's engagement with citizens on Twitter Spaces marks a historic shift towards inclusive governance. Signifying a new era where digital tools will facilitate direct dialogue between leaders and citizens, bridging gaps and fostering transparency. This series of events reinforces my belief in the power of technology to empower communities. It is imperative to continue innovating and advocating for digital solutions that promote civic engagement and offer avenues for participatory democracy. PS: I still call it Twitter. I always will.

How Do You Do Civic Engagement? We can teach ourselves and each other to navigate the systems that weren’t made for us. Civic engagement is sacred. But how do you actually engage in civic life? For many people, it isn’t a simple question to answer. While participation in civic life is our birthright, organically growing out of the natural desire to contribute to our communities, we have other stuff in our life to deal with. We have families; we have jobs; we have stuff to take care of. By the time we’re done with the day, we might be exhausted from the sheer weight of everything else in our lives and too fatigued to do civic engagement. And we may feel excluded from civic life - particularly when it comes to participating in systems built to exclude us. Sometimes, it doesn’t feel like we are welcome in many spaces where terms like “civic engagement” are used. Settler systems and colonial structures are neither Native nor native, but they’re everywhere. Alienation comes easy. But we can change that. We can teach ourselves and each other to navigate the systems that weren’t made for us. Even more importantly, we can commit to civic engagement in all aspects of our lives. You can take your family to that rally. You can contribute funds you earn at work to organizations you trust to support civic engagement efforts. You can take a day off to volunteer, or volunteer on your weekend, for that political cause that uplifts our people. You can organize to deliver groceries to your relative who wants to testify at a legislative committee meeting, so that they have time in their lives to raise their voice. You can plan a convoy of trucks to have company when you go and vote. Civic engagement is where it’s at. Tribalminds.org

NEEDED: Employment Opportunities For People All Abilities Community and local business members, Would you consider helping to find a way for people who are differently abled gain employment ? People of all abilities have the qualifications to work and need a chance gaining the support and given a chance to workI would like to create a café for people of all abilities to work in the East Brunswick community. An bistro of this kind would embrace diversity and equality in a serious way. I am committed to building a team with a variety of backgrounds, skills and views.. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. Creating a culture of Equality isn't just the right thing to do, it's also the smart thing. Help is needed with putting a plan together, establishing a non profit status and planning the business end for the creation of a cafe.Opportunities from local businesses are encouraged to hire people with disabilities. Won’t you consider hiring a qualified person who is interested, capable and also has a disability!? I believe that we can work together to achieve this goal and better prepare adults to live and work independently upon aging out of the school system. Togther we can help adults of all abilities utilize their skills. I can’t stress enough the importance on increased work opportunities for employment for adults with all abilities in the community. Please contact me by email at audrey_weiner@hotmail.com So we can better serve the community and create a partnership to help those who are most in need. Thanks, PublicInput! 💯 These two buzzwords are at the forefront of the conversation when it comes to civic engagement: equitable and representative. Engagement can be equitable without being representative – and it’s important to understand when to prioritize each so that Planners can place engagement data into context and make better-informed decisions. #publicconsultation, #publicengagement, #publicinvolvement, #onlinecommunityengagement, #communityengagement, #urbanplanning, #livablecommunities
