Calling all those who work in local government: We want to hear about your experiences of recruitment, retention, skills and pay across your local authority services. This is an important time for local government as we head towards a General Election. APSE will be working hard on behalf of its members to make sure frontline local council services are given due priority. We will use the results to inform APSE’s advocacy work on behalf of our member local councils and frontline services. So help APSE help you make the case for your frontline service by sharing your views with us. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete but there are plenty of opportunities to add in more comments if you have the time 👇

GOTHAM is so honored to be part of the 2024 Who’s Who in Government Relations by City & State - we are proud of our team joining a list of notable New Yorkers advocating for change in city, state and federal government. And we are so proud of our Founder & President David Schwartz and Senior Vice President Denny Salas for their exemplary leadership...they lead by example every single day! "Elected officials play a leading role in writing the laws that govern the lives of New Yorkers, but it’s not done in a vacuum. Behind the scenes, coalitions, trade associations and other stakeholder groups advocate for members’ interests in the policymaking process. Hospitals, labor unions, real estate developers, nonprofits and other organizations dispatch government relations staffers – or hire experienced lobbyists – to persuade public officials of the importance of an outcome they’re seeking. Even within government, different levels and branches negotiate with each other on high-stakes matters. Indeed, a lot of how government works is through government relations. What unites these notable New Yorkers is a record of shaping policies all across the state." - https://lnkd.in/eyukDnaJ - https://lnkd.in/eFJPfWEB #GothamGovt #Gotham #GovernmentRelations #Advocacy #Politics #ProgressiveDemocrats #CivicAffairs #CommunityDevelopment

OUT NOW: A new policy brief from the Roosevelt Institute and the Good Jobs Collaborative spells out why adding guardrails to WIOA is crucial to protecting workers' rights and ensuring taxpayer money is spent on good jobs. Author Ali Bustamante explains how the “Representation of Compliance” provision of the current WIOA reauthorization Senate discussion bill aims to ensure that taxpayer dollars do not indirectly support illegal practices, such as child labor, wage theft, and unsafe working conditions—and is therefore critical to closing accountability gaps in our federal workforce system. H-CAP is a proud member of the Good Jobs Collaborative, a coalition of policy organizations and worker advocates committed to workforce development that centers workers.
