Gift card scams are common, especially “Card Draining." That's when a thief tampers with a gift card and “drains” the money before the funds are used. Here are some ways to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of Gift Card Draining Scams:

Want to save yourself a bit of time and money at Christmas? Pick a colour gift wrap for each person in your immediate family and only wrap their presents in that colour. I.e. red for Dad/Husband/Partner, blue for child 1, green for child 2, gold for Mum/Wife/Partner etc. Saves you time - you don't have to write out loads of gift cards with the same message. Saves you money - you don't have to buy said gift cards!! You can of course use the same colours for other family members and pop a gift card on them (not suggesting you need to find 10x different coloured wrapping paper!) #ChristmasTips

As always, we encourage you to stay safe online. 1️⃣ Think Before You Click: Don't click links in unexpected emails or texts. 2️⃣ Verify the Sender: Check the email address for typos or suspicious domains, or if it comes from an email address you don't usually communicate with. 3️⃣ Don’t Share Personal Info: Legit companies won’t ask for sensitive details via email. 4️⃣ Avoid Urgent Requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to trick you. 5️⃣ Check the Source: Visit official websites to confirm offers, or text/call the actual person who you think the email is from.
