🏥 Over 130,000 People to Benefit from Life-Saving Health Checks 🏥 The UK government is taking a major step forward in preventive healthcare by offering over 130,000 individuals access to life-saving health checks. This initiative targets those most at risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes, aiming to catch these conditions early and improve health outcomes. But what makes this initiative particularly powerful is the role of health data. 📊 By leveraging data, healthcare providers can identify those most at risk and tailor interventions to individual needs. This data-driven approach not only enhances the effectiveness of these health checks but also helps to allocate resources more efficiently, ensuring that those who need it most receive timely care. 🔍 Why This Matters: 1. Early Detection: Identifying health issues before they become critical can save lives. 2. Personalized Care: Data allows for more accurate risk assessments and personalized health advice. 3. Better Outcomes: With targeted interventions, we can significantly reduce the incidence of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. This initiative is a prime example of how data and healthcare innovation can work hand in hand to improve public health. #Healthcare #PublicHealth #HealthData #PreventiveCare #UKGovernment https://lnkd.in/ggCk5Ra8

As we navigate the complexities of modern healthcare, embracing self-care as a fundamental pillar of health promotion and disease prevention is not just a choice but a necessity. Self-care interventions empower individuals to proactively take charge of their health, prevent diseases, and manage illnesses, with or without the direct support of healthcare professionals. By integrating self-care interventions into primary healthcare systems, we can accelerate progress toward universal health coverage and sustainable development goals. #SelfCare #WholeHealth #IntegrativeMedicine #Healthcare

NHS Confederation ICS conference for me today with Julian and Max. Agenda looks great, as do the break out session Couple of sessions that stand out for me: - Breakfast session on ‘making system change when you are between a rock and a hard place’. It feels like the system is always in this dilemma, so interested to hear opinions of how we meaningfully innovate our way around the ‘rock’ or out of the ‘hard place’. Penny Dash, Reena Patel, Toni Larter, Nicci Briggs. - The 10 year Health Plan. What needs to be different for this to be really effective? We’ve had 10 year plans before, and if some of those ambitions had landed, would we be struggling as much as we are now? Excellent looking panel chaired by Matthew Taylor and with Kathy McLean, and Oliver Coppard - Breakout session 1: Partnering for prevention and prosperity. Preventing disease and improving healthspan must be a key priority for us all. There are dozens of hugely effective interventions we can make, all of which pay back 10x on their costs… and make people healthier. We’ve seen this evidenced from all of the major think tanks. An area of keen interest for me. Michael Wood, Jane Robinson, Jenni French. - Using digital to further prevention - the opportunity here feels huge! I’d suggest that most (if not all!) the tools exist for us to realise this ambition. Lining them up and leveraging their potential is key Joe Harrison, Masood Ahmed, Everything rounded off with a catch up with Ruth Rankine and Aruna Garcea ☕️. All in all a great looking day!

The NHS Health Check, offered every five years to those aged 40 to 74 without pre-existing conditions, is a vital tool to catch serious health issues early—conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, and stroke. Yet, only 44% of eligible people have attended a health check in the past five years (National Audit Office). Commenting on the National Audit Office’s latest figures, Inuvi’s Chief Medical Officer, Nisa Aslam said: "As an NHS GP, I see recurring barriers to attendance, from difficulty booking appointments to the inconvenience of travel. Many asymptomatic individuals skip health checks, assuming they’re healthy, only to miss early signs of serious conditions. Heart disease alone affects 6.4 million people in England, reducing quality of life and costing the NHS £7.4 billion annually. It also has a major impact on the UK workforce, with cardiovascular disease contributing to over 77 million lost workdays each year, highlighting the need for accessible preventive care There’s a real opportunity for the NHS, employers, and private providers to work together to bring essential health checks directly to people, making preventive care more accessible for all." LiveSmart from Inuvi combines smart technology, expert blood testing, and a human touch to provide insight, direction, and support to improve individual health and reduce the risk of serious health issues. #Healthchecks are an excellent opportunity to spot potential health issues early and to take appropriate action to reduce the risk of more serious conditions arising. Increasing adoption of NHS health checks must surely be part of the strategy to place greater emphasis on prevention rather than cure.
