"Diving into April 2024 Wholesale Prices: Experiencing a 1.8% Drop from the Same Time Previous Year" In April 2024, there was a 1.8% decrease in wholesale trade prices compared to the same month the previous year. Following a shift to the new base year of 2021 for wholesale selling prices calculations, this is the most recent monthly result. There was also recorded a year-on-year change rate of -2.6% in March 2024, and -2.7% in February, both using the 2021 base year compared to -3.0% for base year 2015. The discrepancy in rates can be attributed to changes to the weighting scheme and the adjustment of the good’s basket. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), April 2024 saw a 0.4% increase in wholesale prices compared to March 2024. #WholesalePrices #EconomicTrends #Destatis
