Today is World Parkinson’s day, a day to raise awareness and remember those struggling with this debilitating disease. Every year 90,000 new patients are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD), and about 6,000 patients a year seek Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) as they become refractory to medication. DBS can be transformative for patients, extending their quality of life and functionality by up to 10 years or more. Alpha Omega’s mission is to help maximize treatment and get PD patients the best results from DBS working alongside neurosurgeons and neurologists. #ParkinsonsAwareness #DBS

As part of scientists’ efforts to find treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease, they have been investigating the build-up of fat droplets, and their toxicity, in certain brain cells in those diagnosed. By researching their build-up, and the harm they cause, in different patients with different forms of Alzheimer’s, there is now a greater understanding of the connection between development and progression of the Disease which allows for further investigation of ways to mitigate their impact. The PrecivityAD2 test delivers confirmatory diagnostic performance comparable to CSF biomarkers and Amyloid PET to identify the presence or absence of amyloid pathology. The ability to test for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) using a simple peripheral blood venipuncture sample greatly expands the practical availability of AD testing to many more people, including those traditionally difficult to reach because of physical location and or other limitations, than current methods of testing. People do not necessarily need to travel great distances, have access to a subspecialist, and or have expensive equipment present in order to be tested. #AD #Alzheimer #PrecivityAD2 #PET #PositronEmissionTomography #venipuncture #peripheralblood #healthaccess #CSF #cerebrospinalfluid #AlzheimerDisease #C2NDiagnostics #C2N

Sharing our recently published paper on Isaacs Syndrome. In this paper, we documented a rare case of a patient with double-negative Isaacs syndrome with no associated autoimmune disorder nor malignancy on extensive diagnostic testing. We have also summarized the clinical features, interventions and outcomes of 4 other cases that had the similar features as our patient.
