Exploring the Artistry of Film - 3/4 A crucial element of cinematography is lighting. Lighting not only illuminates the scene but also sets the mood and atmosphere, whether it's the soft glow of a romantic sunset or the harsh glare of fluorescent lights in a gritty urban scene. Lighting has the power to take a shot from mediocre to stunning, but it can also evoke a wide range of emotions and enhance the visual storytelling experience. #VisualNarrative #FilmIndustryInsights #Cinematography101 #CameraAngles #LightingDesign #VisualStorytelling #FilmCraftsmanship #CinematicTechniques #NonprofitVideo #VideoProduction #VideoMarketing

This course “Learning Cinematography: 2 Working on Set” by Bill Dill was getting interesting, and I decided to take the second part of it. Even though they are things I'm already familiar with, it feels good to see a refresher course remind me about the order of film production.I had developed a system in my head that works pretty well when it comes to telling short stories, but Bill Dill just reminded me it best to keep things in the order of "best practices"Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eHUS6NXg #cinematography.

Ever wondered how period dramas can feel both historical *and* modern? 🎥👑 The upcoming Starz series *Mary & George* masters this balance with its bold costume design, intricate hairstyles, and dynamic cinematography. Here's how they did it: 🔸 Authentic textures and fabrics bring 17th-century England to life 🔸 Character development/casting is woven into each costume and hairstyle 🔸 Modern cinematography techniques keep the visuals fresh The result? A period drama that looks historical yet speaks to today's audiences. All departments are devoted equally in productions that really pack a punch. 👉 What’s your favorite blend of history and modern filmmaking? A favorite of mine although not period is Denis Villeneuve's Dune, a remake that certainly incorporates some of the above concepts to bring the story back to life again. #FilmCraft #Cinematography #CostumeDesign #PeriodDrama #Filmmaking #Filmnews

Here is an experiment from last week, testing some visual effects inspired by Film Director Michael Langan. Nathan and myself tried to figure out the effect using masking and other other elements in after effets. Then I managed to speak with Michael Langan himself. He explained several ways to achive his version of the Chronographic Cinematography effect, including a quick tool allowing for rushes generation on-set. Overall, the effect and choreography still requires refinement but has a lot of potential! Thanks to Karl Pepper, Kayleigh Pepper and Maja Bielawska for helping on-set. Thanks also to Nathan Riley and Michael Langan for helping with the effects.
