Today is #LymphomaAwareness day, it's one of the most common cancers in Canada. I'm a Survivor and here's how my experience has shaped my professional life. At age 25, I was diagnosed with lymphoma. By the time all the tests were complete, I wasn’t looking for confirmation from my oncologist – I just wanted to hear my survival odds. Once I knew, I went on autopilot and focused on the road ahead. Eyes on end goal. The first challenge I had to face was losing my hair. Instead of waiting for it to fall out, I gradually shortened my hair month by month. By the third month, I shaved it all off, and had 3 wigs prepared in advance. Talk about being proactive! The first decision I made? I wouldn’t leave my job. Sure, I took a lot of sick leaves, but my manager and colleagues were my champions, supporting me every step of the way. The key lessons I learned through my journey that apply to both life and career: 1. **Bite the bullet** – No matter how much you dread it, sometimes the only way is outside your comfort zone. Reaching new heights means climbing higher. 2. **Ignore the noise** – Stay focused on your end goal, and tune out distractions such as market volatility or corporate changes. 3. **Go with the flow** – When things go unplanned or change is needed to progress, flexibility and adaptability are keys to success. Learn new skills. 4. **Plan ahead** – Setting SMART goals helps you stay on course, even when the future is uncertain. One goal at a time. I love my work as a Coach because it allows me to share my knowledge and experience, helping professionals move forward and upward! #LymphomaAwareness #Resilience #CareerGrowth #ChangeManagement #LymphomaSurvivor #Leadership #practicemanagement
