For internal medicine physicians, staying certified means earning MOC points every 2 years, with 100 points needed every 5 years. And now, the American Board of Internal Medicine offers a choice — you can stick with the traditional 10-year exam or opt for the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA), with 30 quarterly questions in a 5-year cycle. Pro tip: CME requirements can differ by state, so be sure to check your specific guidelines. How do you keep up with certification? #InternalMedicine #MedicalEducation #LifelongLearning #HealthcareProfessionals #ProfessionalDevelopment

I am excited to announce the recent publication of our research study on "advanced rooming" in the Journal of Ambulatory Care Management: https://lnkd.in/dYQF2Uzk Jodi Simon, DrPH, MS, Maggie Hamielec, MPH, Aesha P., Eve Walter, PhD "Advanced rooming is a workflow that enables non-clinician staff to take on additional responsibilities to improve quality and productivity...in advanced rooming more questions were asked by patients and staff and more problems were identified and addressed. Advanced rooming medical assistants spent more time with patients and huddled longer with clinicians...Advanced rooming may be a way to enhance care, ease clinician burden, and increase efficiency." The American Medical Association introduced the term "advanced rooming". https://lnkd.in/d8KMF9Np

💡 Enduring Values of the Medical Profession: Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine 💡 In Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, first published in 1950, there is a powerful reminder of the profound responsibility and privilege that comes with being a physician. It states, "there are no greater opportunities, responsibilities, or obligations" than those entrusted to us as doctors. This principle resonates deeply with me, as it reaffirms that medicine is more than just a profession—it’s a calling. It’s about dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to improving lives. As we move forward in healthcare, these enduring values should guide us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients. #MedicalProfession #PhysicianResponsibility #HarrisonsPrinciples #HealthcareLeadership #DoctorCalling #EnduringValues #MedicalEthics #CompassionInCare #HealthcareProfessionals #DutyAndCare #MedicineWithPurpose

Exploring Evidence-Based Practice in GP Placement Today in my GP placement, I had the opportunity to discuss evidence-based practice and how we can stay up-to-date with the latest research to make informed decisions about patient care. We focused on the importance of using trusted resources like NICE CKS guidelines and Cochrane databases, which provide the most current and relevant evidence for treatment decisions. A key takeaway from the discussion was the balance we must strike in staying informed without getting overwhelmed. My mentor suggested reading summary guidelines and keeping up with regular updates to avoid information overload, making it more manageable to apply evidence to clinical practice. An interesting aspect we explored was the importance of aligning treatment recommendations with evidence-based guidelines, especially when patients may come across new information on their own. It reinforced the need to be both up-to-date with evidence and mindful of practical aspects like cost-efficiency in clinical decision-making. It’s fascinating to realize how staying current with evidence can help us provide better care, and I’m excited to continue learning more about how to apply evidence-based practice in real-world settings. #MedicalEducation #EvidenceBasedPractice #GPPlacement #ClinicalSkills #NICEGuidelines #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation
