We are proud of our little school. And though we are growing and changing, we will remain small. Our super power lies in the connection we have to each other, our students, and the Rüfenacht community. That connection means that our excellent education lands in rich soil. Connection fuels the ability to grow and learn. #internationaleducation #britishcurriculum #expatsofbern #individualizededucation

We continue our "Meet the VVF" feature and introduce the VVF lectures! Associate Professor Daiva Andriušaitienė has been teaching for 20 years and says that: → The warmth and appreciation of the students is the greatest reward; → My favorite subjects are Macroeconomics and Economic Behaviour because they complement each other and make you realize that the more you know, the more unanswered questions you have; → In addition to teaching, she is an expert in project activities - most of the projects she has completed are related to the development and implementation of the National Qualifications Framework → Spends her free time in everyday activities with friends because it's not about what to do, but with whom! If you want to know more → https://bit.ly/43wgBkA

WHAT DOESN'T OFSTED CARE ABOUT? MORE TRUTH ABOUT PRIMARY DEEP DIVES..... The focus seems to have rather gone off the 'deep dives' since they were dropped from one day inspections (anyone else seem to think there are rather a lot of those?). Also the new HMCI got rid of the notorious 'curriculum unit'...but deep dives are actually still with us. In the past I have written about how some subjects got ignored whereas inspectors (and schools?) loved having a History deep dive. Ofsted even published some of its own data last year, but not this year. So I have done a sample of fifty recent inspections so see what is happening - and there is good news and bad. It is still the case that History is the most popular deep dive where there is a choice, now with Geography following up. It is an utter nonsense that Science is way behind...and in this sample behind PE. I can accept that health and fitness is a national priority, but surely Science is a fundamental? Curiously, it is also easy to inspect - so why so low? At the bottom end things get really interesting. My sample included not one deep dive in MFL - which primaries with KS2 are all meant to teach; an average result might have been around eight. So there is a clear bias AGAINST MfL. There is also only one RE, which is just as concerning. How can Ofsted fulfil its duties with regard to British Values if it is not looking at how well schools are teaching about faith? This seems to be a serious dereliction of duty because this is an area of our society that is really vey important. Maybe Ofsted cannot cope with 'doing religion'? That would be a bit of a self-indictment. Also there is no legal barrier to prevent Ofsted inspecting the quality of RE in faith schools - only 'denominational content'. Why are these two subjects losing out? The system clearly allows inspectors to pick and choose, so they avoid 'tricky' subjects. Maybe some schools go along with this too.... This is another reason why it is a concern that Ofsted has NEVER published the evaluation of this framework that it promised for 2023. And another reason why Sir Martyn needs to clear out the dead weight at the top of his organisation - because if any member of the public can find this out with an hour's research, why have they tolerated it for five years? #ofsted #primaryschools

Navigating UCAS Applications with Insights from the University of Edinburgh A huge thank you to the University of Edinburgh for hosting such an informative webinar, providing invaluable insights into the evolving UCAS application process. Watch the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/eZS37hzs Key highlights from the session: Admissions Trends: A drop of 5% in applications. This is still higher than in 2020. The webinar shed light on fluctuations in application and offer rates over recent years, especially following the pandemic. With increasing competition in certain fields like law, engineering, and computer science, understanding these trends is essential for supporting students effectively. Fee Status & Diversity: The explanation of Scotland's unique fee status system and its impact on admissions was particularly enlightening, alongside the university's diverse student population representing over 180 countries. Personal Statements: Edinburgh emphasised the importance of personal statements, particularly in showcasing motivation, skills, and relevant experiences. This is critical for differentiating candidates, especially for competitive programmes. UCAS Reference Changes: The university highlighted its preference for the new UCAS reference format, which makes it easier to extract meaningful context about students' circumstances and readiness for university study. Looking Ahead: Changes to personal statements for 2026 entry were outlined, with a move to a structured question format aimed at simplifying the process while maintaining the depth of content. Thank you, Edinburgh. Very useful. #UCAS2025 #UniversityAdmissions #EdinburghUniversity #HigherEducation #PersonalStatements

It's impressive how many contexts of modern western education are based on theories from Vedas. Let's recognize the depth and inclusiveness ofbour own education system.
