As we reported earlier, the delegation of the University of Szeged visited China and discussed the expansion of its international network. 🌍 During the trip, thanks to a personal connection, the delegation members also met the leaders of one of the oldest universities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and talked about the possibilities of cooperation 🤝 #UniversityofSzeged #StudyinSzeged #szte #szteinternational https://lnkd.in/dNwpu-nr

I am currently a visiting research scholar at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), University of Kyoto. It is an amazing place to do some productive thinking about humanitarianism and religion in Asia. The Center has just published an interview with me on their website. In the interview I responded to the following questions: * What are your favorite things? * Please tell us about your research * How do you overcome the difficulties in putting together the results of your research into a research paper or book? * Do you have any essential reads (books) that you recommend to younger people? * What is your ideal image of a researcher, and do you have any advice for those who aim to become researchers? * Why did you choose CSEAS, or what is your expectation here? https://lnkd.in/gdAkQSBX

#PublicationAlert Nalanda rose to eminence due to its strong dedication to intellectual liberty, welcoming individuals across religious beliefs and encouraging lively discussions on various subjects. In the revival of Nalanda, emerges a message of resilience that showcases humanity’s relentless pursuit of knowledge and the enduring influence of ideas, transcending destruction. Check out my piece on "Reviving Nalanda University: From Ancient Eminence to Contemporary Global Learning Hub" co-authored with Vartika Gupta published by Samvada World. https://lnkd.in/gtt2Hx8C

❕Twenty years in Lithuania for the European Humanities University (EHU) were filled with many challenges. But they have also demonstrated the illusory state of the consciousness of the ones who educate the younger generation and who have managed to assure themselves that they possess some secret knowledge, which they are simply obliged to share with others. 💡 What is the future of EHU? What can such a university, based outside its country, hope and strive for? EHU 20 years in Lithuania: Cooperation and Challenges. This is the topic of the discussion which will happen on the 1st day of the international conference „Quo Vadis European Humanities University?“. 8 academics from all around the world are going to debate on both objective and subjective problems of the EHU and its existence. ✊ 🔔 International conference „Quo vadis European Humanities University?“ is going to take place at EHU (Savičiaus street 17, room 110), on the 27-28 of September in Vilnius. 🔑 For further details 👉 https://quovadis.ehu.lt/ #EuropeanHumanitiesUniversity #QuoVadisEHU #EHUFuture #20years #Vilnius #Belarus #Conference #EHUConference2024

Achille Mbembe on Africa and global dynamics of intellectual and political change: “ On the other hand, the region of Africa has provided most, or some of our modern disciplines with some foundational categories, whether we are talking about anthropology, political economy, development studies, psychoanalysis or structuralism. Without those key categories, our disciplines would be utterly poor today. So as the 20th-21st century falls, many are beginning to recognise that our planet’s destiny might be played out in Africa, and therefore, what we are seeing is global recognition of that philosophical and material contributions of the continent, and maybe more [of a] willingness to listen to reflections coming from this part of the world. That’s how I see it. … What strikes me is that we live at a time of redrawing the global intellectual map, and this is the shift that [has not] started yesterday. I would think that it began during the era of decolonisation. But there has been an acceleration in redrawing the global map. For instance, today, besides traditional northern Atlantic research institutions and centres of learning, we are witnessing the emergence of alternative circuits of circulation, which have emerged especially in the last quarter of the 20th century.“ https://lnkd.in/de3mveyT

My interview with People's Daily, China where I highlight the need for more R&D collaboration in science, technology, and arts, humanities between China and Nepal's universities for better cooperation. China's rise as a scientific superpower means its dedication to scientific research and development to which Nepal can leverage a lot. As stated in the interview, Nepal now has Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Tsinghua University research office. I hope that more top Chinese universities in C9 or elsewhere be able to collaborate with Nepali universities for joint research projects. It would become a big boost for our education institutions back home that could potentially help in retaining talent. Maybe this will be a big "Game Changer". The Araniko Project

Deon Policy Institute's Georgios Laskaris and Afroditi Xydi, interviewed Haiyan Gao, founding Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at Duke Kunshan University (DKU - a partnership between Duke University, Wuhan University, and the city of Kunshan in China). Now that Greece announced it will be pursuing partnerships between Greek public universities and foreign private universities, Georgios & Afroditi sat down with Haiyan to learn about her experience of bringing Duke to China. Key takeaways: 1. ⏳It took four years of planning to design the 4-year undergraduate curriculum. 2. 🤝 Duke led hiring, while working with Wuhan University to design the academic and research program. 3. 💰 The city of Kunshan provided the majority of funding. 4. 📈 Duke decided to establish a university in China following the country's rapid growth over three decades. Presence in China would also create immense opportunities for research and teaching. 5. 👨🏫 Faculty were attracted to DKU thanks to its broader vision and China's dynamic nature. 6. 🎓 The first graduating class experienced great success, with many being accepted to Ivy League PhD programs.
