A few months ago, I graduated from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business with an MBA. Thank you to my family and friends who supported me through this transformational time.
These two years enabled me to take a step back and re-evaluate a lot, however, two areas shined through.
1. Community is King – “The People” is often the answer to why you choose a group of friends, a job, or an MBA program, and I fall into this bucket. Ross exceeded my expectations through student-run organizations (Shoutout The Ross Bus), and countless opportunities to come together as a community and learn from each other. I cherish the conversations over dinner and drinks with small groups, the sporting events we cheered at, and the celebrations when friends got engaged, received job offers, or achieved other personal milestones. But what I will never forget is the support we showed each other during the tough times, how a small text or walk for support when you’re down can go a long way, and how we truly were a team through it all. Thank you.
2. Prioritize You – A few weeks into my business school experience, a mentor turned friend told me an MBA would be a master's in prioritization before anything else. Making sacrifices is a common theme in business school. Juggling to balance academic, social, and career expectations have many consequences. However, this was the first time it was all on me. I had the power to shape this unique experience my way. Through many successes and failures, I realized the importance of putting yourself first, embracing the power now, and to never forget the people who helped push you to get where you are right now.
As for what’s next, in September I will be rejoining Deloitte Consulting in their Chicago office. I am excited for the next challenge. Until then, I will be enjoying summer in New England and knocking books off my ever-growing list. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, always happy to chat about MBA programs, consulting, or simply catch up!
