Gratitude and Reflections: A Remarkable Year in 2024, Looking ahead to 2025. As the year wraps up, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities and milestones that made 2024 a fulfilling and impactful year, both professionally and personally.  Here’s a look back at some key highlights:  🎉 Professional Milestones   This year, as a Digital Accessibility Expert at Union Bank of India, I contributed to several achievements under our Union Access program. We launched accessible websites and apps, furthering our mission to provide inclusive banking experiences.  I also stepped into the domain of physical accessibility through an audit of Mumbai Metro 3 stations and coaches with XRCVC (Xavier's Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged) team, helping to improve inclusive public infrastructure.  🎙️ Recognition and Outreach   - Featured on the IAAP - International Association of Accessibility Professionals United in Accessibility Podcast to share my journey.   - Received the IAAP Accessibility Impact Award, an International recognition. - Served as a Purple Ambassador at the International Purple Fest in Goa 2024.   - Represented accessibility and inclusion through the unique Human Library event by Rising Flame.  📚 Certifications and Learning   - Earned certifications including IAAP DAS, AODA, and Microsoft Accessible AI Experiences.   - Completed courses on Accessible Book Publishing and achieved JAWS Screen Reader 2024 Certification.  🎓 Knowledge Sharing   - Led sessions at institutions such as Kirti College, Somaiya College, NAB Meerut, VM School, and BPA, promoting accessibility and inclusion.   - Collaborated with corporates like Tata Consultancy Services and Deque Systems, Inc and actively participated in the IAAP India Chapter meet at BarrierBreak.   - Shared insights through XRCVC’s Tech Roshni session.  💡 Personal Highlights   - Shared my journey of living with low vision and albinism to raise awareness and inspire others.  This year has been one of growth, learning, and building stronger connections with professionals and advocates who share a vision of inclusion.  Looking ahead to 2025, I am excited to work towards the goals I’ve set and continue making progress in accessibility and inclusion.  Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this incredible year. “From Rejections to Resilience” My Journey to Rediscovering Independence . . . December 2023 was a turning point for me. My company shut its Bangalore operations, and with that, I lost my job. The first quarter of 2024 was a blur of uncertainty—no opportunities, not even a chance to apply. By the second quarter, applications started trickling in, but there were no callbacks. By the third quarter, interviews began, but rejection after rejection followed. Never in last 20 years have I had to face rejections in any aspect of life, be it personal, professional or social. Unfortunately this is one thing that life never taught me! It shook me. I had no idea how to navigate this phase, but the desperation of wanting to be a “strong independent woman” 🙄, pushed me to take up anything that came my way—video presenting, sustainability talks, even teaching art. This wasn’t a path I chose; it was one I stumbled upon out of necessity. Until one day, frustration turned into resolve. I decided that my independence wouldn’t be tied to a job or an employer. And then, the last quarter of 2024 brought a flood of opportunities. Work kept pouring in—so much that I barely had time to rest in December. Money wasn’t the motivator anymore; it was the drive to WORK. A wise friend once told me, “Don’t chase money; chase work, and the money will follow.” A big thanks to Image Consulting Business Institute for not only making me capable of standing strong and independent but also trusting me to mentor the next generation of the institute to be equally independent! The knowledge, exposure, and experience I gained here are unmatched—life-changing in ways no other learning has ever been. As we step into 2025, I’m manifesting nothing but endless opportunities and growth. 2024 – What a year it’s been! Looking back, it’s honestly hard to put into words just how much this year has shaped me. If I had to sum it up in one word, it’d be Productive.
