In 2021, Texas Woman’s University took a monumental step forward by becoming a university system. This evolution represents not just a structural change but a strategic commitment to expanding our impact and fostering innovation in higher education. As a university system, we are better positioned to serve Texas more broadly, enhance educational accessibility, and drive greater prosperity for all. This transformation underscores our dedication to excellence and our mission to empower students through comprehensive, high-quality education. The role of a chancellor in this context extends far beyond academic leadership. It involves engaging with political landscapes, advocating for policies that support our goals, and securing resources to sustain our growth. Navigating the complexities is crucial to championing the needs of our students, faculty, and staff, and ensuring the continued success of our institution.

The most important element of this post is the focus on process over outcome. It’s not one process it’s multiple processes that work in complex concert with each other - care for students, high expectations, support to meet those expectations and the building of self belief through mastery and progress.

This past Wednesday, Metropolitan College of New York's new president, Charles J. Gibbs, EdD, convened his first gathering of the college's faculty and staff. As the smiles below clearly indicate, my colleagues and I stand ready to eagerly support President Gibbs as the college pursues its important goals in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. P&HCC is one of ten Virginia colleges and universities awarded a State Council of Higher Education for Virginia grant to support the Middle School Campus Visit Project. SCHEV, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Education and Commonwealth Savers, awarded $126,000 to ten institutions to enable the post-secondary schools to host campus visits for middle school students during the 2024-25 academic year.
