If your product isn't designed for disassembly, it's not truly sustainable. What might seem like a minor decision, can have a big impact on circularity, design flexibility and costs. In sustainable design, every detail matters 🔍 In our latest Eco-dilemmas blog post, we tackle the tough choices behind assembling sustainable trophies: using glue or screws in products? Key insights: ♻️ Sustainability: Screws allow for disassembly and recycling, while glue may have a lower initial CO2 impact but complicates repair and recycling, leading to more waste. 🏆 Design: Screws offer durability and flexibility, while glue provides a sleek finish but can cause issues like material staining or weakening over time. 💶 Cost: Screws cost more upfront but add long-term value through repairability. Glue is cheaper initially but leads to higher waste and costs down the line. Explore the full story on our Upstream Trophies insights page: https://lnkd.in/eUp6Ezd4 Stay tuned for more insights, stories, and fresh perspectives on what it truly means to be eco-conscious in the trophy industry. #upstreamtrophies #fromwastetoglory #ecodilemmas #sustainabilty #circulareconomy

Eco-dilemma: Using glue or screws in products? Sustainability is all about the details 🔍 What might seem like a minor decision, can have a big impact on circularity, design flexibility and costs. When designing sustainable products, even the smallest choices, like using screws or glue, make a difference. In our latest Eco-dilemmas blog post, we dive into the challenges of choosing the best way of assembling trophies. Key insights: ♻ Sustainability: Screws enable disassembly and can be recycled. Overall glue has lower CO2 impact for production but complicates repairing, refurbishment or recycling and therefore increase waste. 🏆 Design: Screws deliver durability and flexibility, while glue offers a sleeker finish but can lead to problems with certain materials, like staining or gradual release over time. 💶 Cost: Screws have higher upfront costs for material and installation but offer long-term value through repairability. While glue is cheaper initially but leads to more waste and expenses over time. We are frequently asked how sustainable our products are, to which we generally respond, 'very.' Admittedly, we choose most of our fabrics based on their performance more than their 'green credentials,' but it's the service we've built around the bags that gives us the audacity to make such claims. Generally, we are only told/taught one or two methods of being sustainable: use less and take from renewable sources. Both of these are solid methods, but in reality, there are a number of different ways to make sustainable products, and the service that surrounds the products is often overlooked. For example, we encourage our customers to consider having their bag repaired through our repair service if something happens to it, or if they feel it is looking a little tired. This eliminates the need for them to buy a new bag and simply extends the life of the bag they currently have. Also, if you feel you are done with your bag, you can return it to us and we can clean and reuse the fabric for something else, or you can use your existing bag as a deposit against something new. Think of it like a part exchange, but for bags. Fabric can be cleaned, refreshed, and remade into other things; it does not just have to go in the bin when you feel it has reached the end of its usable life. Things only become waste when we run out of ways to use them. #goodstartjones #sustainability #uk #britishdesign #wolverhampton #westmidlands #England ##ukmanufacturing #design #bags #fabric

Circular economy principles can be viewed by luminaries as preserving natural capital by controlling finite stocks. Furthermore, components, materials, and products must be circulating at their maximum utility at all times. How is this used in practice? If the lighting industry is to achieve a circular economy, luminaires would need to use as much recycled material as possible. In consideration of maximum utility, it is already feasible for most luminaires to replace their parts due to their modular design, in that the body, lamp, and driver are all replaceable components. #recycling #circulareconomy #sustainability #lighting #eyelighting #ecofriendly #recycle #environmentability #Eyelighting

𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 ♻️ In recent years, the demands on packaging have changed massively. In addition to aesthetics and functionality, sustainability now also plays a major role. To be able to further utilize the valuable resources of packaging, the recyclability of the materials and decorations used must be considered from the design phase. ➡️Learn in our latest blog post why "Design for Recycling" is really necessary and what it looks like in detail: https://lnkd.in/dKxCvwtX #recyclability #design4recycling #sustainablepackaging

Cardboard is a great example of a material that's sustainable by design: ✅It's perfectly stackable, with endless options for customisation & a good strength to weight ratio. This optimises transport load, lowering CO2 emissions📉. #CircularByNature https://lnkd.in/dTstbqY

We are excited to tell you about our fresh new look, #rebrand. Here's more on what's changed with our packaging and what's staying true to our roots. Introducing the new and improved Dropps—because when you ask, we listen! What's changed? We've made improvements to our packaging: bolder imagery & labelling for easier legibility and clear "how to" instructions. Plus, no more shipping labels directly on boxes! But amidst the upgrades, some things remain constant: our commitment to sustainability. Our FSC Certified Paperboard, lightweight design, and curbside recyclability are still here, making us compact and efficient for any space. As we embrace this new chapter, we're reminded that true innovation lies not just in change, but in staying steadfast in our values through it all. Together, we can redefine clean living for a better, greener future. #SustainableHome #CleanLiving #LaundryDetergent #DishPods
