A few weeks ago I participated in the NYC Presence Platform sponsored by Meta. It was a great experience were I got to work around very talented people building XR apps using their new Presence Platform tools. My team did an amazing job on this game. It is quite unique and we are very proud of it. We got to be among the top 3 in the gaming category. "A futuristic soccer-like duel where two players, equipped with telekinetic powers, launching a glowing energy ball with spellbinding effects, steer it mid-air, and defend using dynamic energy shields." Please check out the devpost link here for all of the details and leave us some feedback. https://lnkd.in/eKE4ATqp My amazing teammates worked on the visual aspects of the game as well as the main mechanic of controlling the ball and rules of the game. It feels really good to play and satisfactory to control the soccer ball mid air with your hands and play trick of the other player. My focus was on the multiplayer aspect and getting it to work on co-location. I used Photon Fusion for the networking and used Unity Physics to make the ball bounce with things in your real room like walls, tables, chairs, etc. The biggest challenge for me was working with spatial anchors for eco location but we were able to get it to work right before the deadline as it always happens in hackathons. You can see me and Craig Kohlmeyer Playing together in the video. That way when the balls interacts with elements from the room it is synchronized for the two of us. I want to thank Meta, they were an excellent host during the hackathon and their mentors also were of invaluable help. 🥽 Are you buying one? Images of the new Meta Quest 3S start to surface online. Expected to be launched next week: This might end up becoming one of the biggest entrance doors to VR/XR ever. I've talked about the new Quest 3S in a few previous posts already. It's supposed to be a lighter version of the Quest 3, with XR enabled, for people who can't afford the Q3. We don't have full specs, but it'll definitely have lower processing power, with the same battery! At the end of the day, we're talking about: - A light device (potentially the lightest out there, might be lighter than the Q3) - Enough processing power to run most modern stuff (similar to a Quest 2 power) - Same battery of the Q3, which means more hours of usage - Lower price! If you thought $500 was affordable, this should come for less It's supposed to be released next week, during Meta's Connect 2024. So if you still have a Quest 2, the time to sell it is NOW! Now fully updated since Meta's re-brand, this colourful site is a lesson on how to showcase people and places with high quality images that still feel authentic. Visuals are also used to good effect on the careers site where employee-focused content presents a compelling case for jobseekers. Despite a nondescript label, the “Careers Events” video archive is an engaging resource that we don’t often see. However, a shallow and disorienting navigation structure negatively impacts journeys between the corporate and careers sites. #corporatecommunications #meta

A Heartfelt Farewell to Meta Spark: A Journey of Creativity and Impact Today marks the official end of the Meta Spark platform, and I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey it has been. As a creator, Meta Spark provided me with the tools to bring immersive augmented reality experiences to life, reaching audiences on a scale I could have only dreamed of. The numbers speak volumes about the impact of this platform: 4.7 billion impressions 565.1 million opens 68.5 million captures 14.7 million shares 7.4 million video call uses 11 seconds average time open One of my most successful effects, "8K Quality", garnered over 1.1 billion impressions, with 24.2 million opens, 842,989 captures, and 678,335 shares. It’s humbling to know how far-reaching this creation has been. Meta Spark empowered creators like me to connect with a global audience and inspire innovation. Although the platform is closing, its legacy will live on through the creativity it unleashed and the AR experiences it brought to life. TODAY marks my 5th work anniversary at Meta, where I’ve had the privilege of being part of the journey to shape the VR/MR industry. As I reflect on this incredible experience, here are some highlights: ▶ 2019 - 2020: My journey began with Quest 2, where we launched the most popular VR headset on the market, with over 20 million units sold. This product ignited a surge of interest in VR and the Metaverse. ▶ 2020 - 2022: As the gatekeeper for optical performance and visual quality, we brought Meta’s first Pancake Optics to life with Quest Pro. ▶ 2022 - 2023: As the Tech Lead, we scaled Pancake Optics and brought it to the mass market with Quest 3. ▶ 2023 - Now: Incubating the most advanced optics architecture to enable the future. When I joined Meta 5 years ago, I never imagined such a rewarding journey filled with innovation, personal growth, and groundbreaking products. Despite the ups and downs in both the company and the industry, it’s the people, the trust, the support, and the belief that have propelled me forward. I feel truly blessed by the past five years at Meta, and I’m excited to see what the next 5 years and beyond will bring!
