Andreas Neubacher recently spoke on behalf of oneM2M at the Strategies in Satellite Ground Segment Conference and Expo (SSGS 2024).   He began by introducing oneM2M and our multi-year journey of specifying an open and global standard for end-to-end #IoT systems. The panel discussion initially focused on the IoT opportunity for #satellite connectivity. This stems from growing industry interest in a broad family of non-terrestrial technologies (#NTN) for improved coverage in IoT ‘white’ spots. Andreas noted that no single connectivity technology provides coverage everywhere while suiting all use cases. Systems will employ multiple technologies and combine complementary, connectivity solutions. When mixing technologies or building systems for scalability and high volume IoT connections, standardization of a service enablement layer is of particular importance.
