Dynamic parking pricing adjusts parking rates periodically (typically monthly, quarterly, or annually) based on observed occupancy levels to reach a particular objective, such as having one open space available 90% of the time in each parking zone. Limiting its scalability is the lack of parking occupancy data, especially on-street, which is collected by costly and infrastructure-invasive sensors like magnetic pucks and cameras. An underrated replacement or companion to sensors is parking payment transaction data, which can be used to develop price-aware occupancy prediction models. These models are complex as they should capture the network effects of pricing, such as occupancy spillover between parking zones, even if just some prices are modified. The demonstration shows the application of a network-aware parking occupancy prediction model with hourly pricing and time-day pricing as two major pricing policies. Dynamic parking pricing is an effective strategy for balancing parking demand and supply by adjusting hourly rates based on recorded occupancy levels. The price adjustment frequency typically ranges from three months to a year, making "Adaptive Pricing" a more accurate term to describe this pricing strategy. This report, commissioned by Toronto’s Transportation Services Department, explores using parking transaction data as a cost-efficient alternative to traditional sensors, such as pavement-mounted magnetic pucks and cameras, which are expensive, infrastructure-intensive, and difficult to scale. The proposed pricing algorithm eliminates the need for invasive occupancy detection infrastructure by leveraging digitally recorded transaction data from parking meters. Supported by a Graph Neural Network (GNN), the algorithm dynamically adjusts parking rates to optimize availability, redistribute demand, and reduce congestion. Results show significant improvements, such as an 8.5% increase in available spots during busy morning hours and a 3.6% reduction in evening occupancy rates, while maintaining high prediction accuracy across diverse conditions. Modern teacher chronicles 😅 😀 😅 In economics it's all about saving time or money the only two limited resources. As a creative and interesting teacher, I have 10-14 year old to teach economics. I always seek to make learning experiences unique, relatable and personal. This ensures practical knowledge can be used in the day to day lives of students. We are learning about Efficiency and Interdependence in IB economics classroom. I introduce with a quote " Efficiency is being intelligent lazy" play a video and let the young curious minds think 🤔😉. My Gen z students "Purity does hardwork pay" This is just one among the many questions this inquisitive young minds ask in a day. When I see below video I imagine how innovation has really helped imagine 1. The packing space saved 2. Accidents prevented 3. Time saved on reversing 😂😂 ladies parking time. This are the classroom experiences kids find intriguing, at the end of the lesson you give them list of companies like Uber, Lyft, Air BnB, Upwork and Fiverr then ask them to draw mindmap on how the innovation has improved Efficiency and Interdependence. As a teacher I have confidently built a leader with a changed mindset my lesson objectives is achieved once student can use the lesson practically in real life scenarios 😂🤔 #innovation #techworld#teaching
