🌀 Are you ready for an active hurricane season? 🌊 Hurricane season is just around the corner, and the forecast is clear: 2024 is set to be busier than usual. This isn't just coastal talk; residents across Florida, especially newcomers, must sit up and take note. 🏠💨 Despite being inland, Sanford residents were visited by officials stressing the 'when, not if' reality of hurricane impacts. Flooding doesn't discriminate by distance from the coast, so having a strong emergency plan and supply kit is non-negotiable. It's essential to understand the risks to your property and personal safety. Recently, wind gusts in Tallahassee hit 71 mph, a reminder of nature's power. In the face of this threat, "hurricane hunter" planes soar into the storm's heart, gathering critical data to inform evacuation and safety decisions on the ground—brave souls ensuring our protection. ✈️🌀 Remember, it doesn't take a direct hit to turn lives upside down. Lessons from 20 years ago, when four hurricanes battered Florida in just weeks, still echo. 🏝️💔 So let's talk, share experiences and advice, because preparation is our collective shield. The National Hurricane Center doesn't mince words: expect more than the average seven tropical storms and hurricanes, with at least three major ones. Preparedness is key. Stay safe and stay informed because hurricane season waits for no one. Are you prepared? Share your tips below! 👇 #HurricaneSeason2024 #EmergencyPreparedness #StaySafe

Gallagher Re recently published their preliminary report on the expected outcomes of natural disaster in 2024. The Atlantic hurricane season has already set a number of early season records, and the insurance industry needs to prepare for a potentially challenging few months ahead. One of the ways that we prepare is by making sure that you are prepared. Whether you are insuring your primary residence or a vacation home in #VirginiaBeach, review your coverage before you need to use your coverage. In collaboration with Colorado State University, Gallagher highlights a few take aways that indicate we may need to prepare for a hyperactive #hurricane season: * Record water temperatures in the Atlantic * Expected transition to La Niña during peak hurricane season That being said, hurricanes do not always directly translate into economic and personal loss. Slight deviations in a hurricane’s track can dramatically alter the damage potential. Unfortunately, there is no way to know for certain. Being prepared ensures that a potential crisis is not compounded by a lack of protection.
