The transcatheter aortic valve replacement (#TAVR) procedure continues to revolutionize the management of aortic stenosis. With over 800 procedures performed, I have witnessed the profound impact of this less invasive approach on patient outcomes. TAVR is particularly beneficial for patients at higher surgical risk, as it offers a less invasive option with shorter recovery times compared to traditional open-heart surgery. Recent studies indicate improved durability and functionality of TAVR valves, making them a viable choice for patients with small aortic annuli, which is more common in women. #TAVR may offer benefits for patients with asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis. Findings were unveiled today at #TCT2024 and published in The New England Journal of Medicine. https://lnkd.in/e5Js6yBK Meanwhile, the #FDA breakthrough designation for Pi-Cardia ShortCut device marked a milestone for valve-in-valve TAVR in high-risk cases. This tool addresses the risk of coronary obstruction, enhancing safety and personalization for patients with complex needs. As we continue to refine techniques and broaden access to TAVR, it is crucial to stay informed about these advancements and their implications for patient care. #Cardiology #HeartHealth #MedicalInnovation #PatientCare #TAVI #interventionalcardiology Image courtesy of Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology

Case of the Week In addressing #AorticStenosis and a recessive right #CoronaryArtery in a 58-year-old patient, the surgeon turned to Axial3D to convert the DICOM images into a #3Dprinted model of the myocardium with oversized coronary arteries. The model helped the team plan the aortic valve replacement, provided critical insights into the patient's condition, and facilitated a more targeted approach to equipment selection. As a result, the patient spent 20 minutes less on the operating table, reducing intraoperative risk. Read full case study here - https://loom.ly/Eh1NwuI Also learn more about how we can help you with these types of cases and more by visiting us at #AATS2024 in Toronto. #CardiacSurgery #3DModels #AorticValveReplacement #SurgicalPlanning #cardiovascular #cardiothoracic #medical3Dmodel
