💥 Bradley of the 47th lighting up russian positions with its 25mm chain driven Bushmaster autocannon. Pokrovsk direction, #Ukraine ⚡ US made Bradley fighting vehicles have been a highly effective tool for Ukraine. With lots of maneuverability and firepower, they have been used on the battlefield as light tanks. For Kyiv, Bradleys are also more expendable than other Western armor like Abrams tanks. ☝️ There was tremendous hype around the arrival of the American-made M1 Abrams tank, but that's faded. However, the Bradley, despite suffering significantly more losses, has consistently been celebrated for its effectiveness, in some ways overshadowing the Abrams. The American-made Bradleys, in the hands of the Ukrainians, are "in effect being used as a light tank," says Mark Cancian, a defense expert and retired US Marine Corps colonel. 🎤 "The Bradley is perhaps a bit more maneuverable than a main battle tank," said a former officer, who had experience with the IFV during their service. "It's taller than one, which makes it a pretty good target, but it's more compact and can sort of maneuver through the terrain a little more agilely." A former #USA Army infantry officer told "the capabilities that it brings in terms of speed, its ability to keep up with the tanks, your ability to move infantry squads in a protected manner across the battlefield very quickly, and its fairly robust armor package — along with the capabilities of the weapons systems on there — make it a very effective infantry fighting vehicle." 💪 The Bradley can hold its own in a tank fight. Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said previously that the Bradley isn't a tank, but it is a "tank 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫," as well as an effective tool against infantry. Ukraine has used these to target bunkers, exposed infantry, machine gun nets, and other targets beyond armor. We've seen Bradleys take down russia's most modern T-90 tanks. The Bradley is one of the most effective #military instruments that the US Army has ever fielded. #Intelligence #StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦

I want to give a quick #shoutout to the person who has been instrumental in helping me develop as a leader--Patrick Dunn. Here are a few lessons I have learned from my husband, as well as a recent news story from his time with the 60 Minute Crew. I am so proud of his leadership and dedication to excellence on behalf of his sailors, his fellow officers, his leadership, and those our U.S. military is working to protect. 🌱 Be in the spaces of your people. Pat is intentional about getting out of his office to interact with everyone within his chain of command. His willingness to make time for people allows for honest dialogue, helps identify issues faster, and provides a space for people to feel supported. 🌱 Train with excellence. Pat treats every simulator, flight, brief, etc., with the same level of intention and discipline. Therefore, when the rubber meets the road, he is ready to execute in order to respond to the greatest crises. 🌱 Know when to say, "I was wrong, I am sorry. How can I do better?" He never stops learning and constantly pushes himself to understand the other perspective. 🌱 Decisive action. By being a continual student of his craft both by studying and researching, as well as a tactician in the aircraft, he has honed his ability to act decisively to keep others safe. https://lnkd.in/gmrKJmYd

Microsoft has partnered with military tech firm Anduril to enhance the U.S. Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) by integrating Anduril’s Lattice platform. These smart combat goggles will provide soldiers with real-time data, 3D mapping, and threat detection capabilities, improving decision-making on the battlefield. The IVAS goggles will also feature low-light and thermal sensors, enhancing situational awareness and overall combat effectiveness. This collaboration aims to overcome previous performance issues with IVAS and field an improved version for U.S. soldiers. #Microsoft #Partnered #military #tech #Firms #army #usa #visualeffects #Augmentation #system #Smart #combat #goggles #smartglasses #soldiers #RealTime #data #detecting #Battlefield #businessdor Microsoft Anduril Industries Anduril Smart Glasses Noor Smart Glasses Military Aviator Night Vision Goggles ANVIS-6 Military: Defense, Communications, Security, Weapons, Vehicles, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps

At the time LCPL (E-3), now CPL is awarded the Meritorious Defense Medal. A medal you only see on the ribbon rack of command-level E-9s and O-5+. Why does he get one? This Marine, most likely still in his first contract (< 6 years in), identified discrepancies with a piece of equipment he repairs and maintains. A discrepancy that could have killed or injured fellow Marines. THEN aided the OEM in redesign for greater Safety, Maintainability and Reliability. Even helped revise the Maintenance Manual so other techs like himself could follow it accordingly. I love doing 3 things here: 1 - Talking about Manufacturing. 2 - Talking about the Military. 3 - Talking about my experience in both and how universal our problems are. For my Manufacturers. This is a prime example of the knowledge your operators and maintainers possess. We are world-class at fixing problems at the lowest level. However, there are times when those problems need to be addressed and corrected at a higher level. Items that could impact not just our plant/battalion, but those in other areas utilizing similar equipment. What should you take from this? Empower your frontline team to solve their problems. Listen to them when they feel the need to inform you of bigger issues. Support them in seeing the corrective actions through. Finally, if this is behavior you want others to emulate, then you must award/recognize it, accordingly.
I had the honor last week of awarding Corporal Barbieri, Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division the Meritorious Service Medal. No, this isn't a typo!! According to the Marine Corps' Awards Branch, our motivator is only the second Corporal (since at least 2008 when our awards system was integrated online), to receive this level award. Now many are probably wondering, what jaw-dropping achievement resulted in a Corporal receiving an MSM? Before I answer... here's where the story becomes even more interesting: Technically he was a Lance Corporal at the time of his achievements!! So the real question is how did a Lance Corporal become the first to receive an MSM? As captured in his summary of action and citation, Corporal Barbieri identified the a critical need to properly replace the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle's (JLTV) steering column in order to prevent future catastrophic failures that were likely to result in loss of life or equipment. Through his own initiative, he began working with Oshkosh Truck Corporation, the United States Army, and the Marine Corps Program Offices where he then identified numerous additional shortfalls and inconsistencies throughout the original fielded technical manual for the JLTV family of vehicles. Corporal Barbieri then stunned their engineers with his brilliance and change proposals for both fabrication of new vehicle components and for updating the electronic maintenance manuals that are now published and being fielded by the program office across all military branches of service. All in all, Marine Corps Systems Command has verified (using approved acquisition and cost saving tables) that Corporal Barbieri's redesigns have reduced massive amounts of maintenance downtime, improved operating costs, while also substantially improving the safety of both the maintenance and operation of the JLTV to the jaw-dropping amount of $140M saved across the Department of Defense and an estimated reduction of 900,000 maintenance hours annually. So please join me in congratulating Corporal Barbieri for his exceptional professionalism, personal initiative, and selfless dedication, and for becoming the Marine Corps' second Corporal to receive an MSM.

#NETL researchers developed a heat treatment for armor plate that boosts the armor’s resistance to penetration by explosive devices. In 2007, the U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command ordered 10 million pounds of this enhanced armor to retrofit military vehicles. #25yrsNETL
