Things Are Changing For Me... Here's why I no longer want to focus on meeting new people in Austin 👇🏽 A few months ago, I set out on a journey to connect with as many impact-driven founders, VCs, and builders as possible. After meeting over 70 incredible individuals, I’ve shifted my focus from “new” to nurturing the deeper connections I’ve made. (In the hustle of community building, it’s easy to lose sight of why you're doing it in the first place.) For me, in a new city like Austin, meeting new people was crucial—but at a certain point, I realized that more new connections weren’t the most valuable thing anymore. That’s why I’ve taken a step back to reflect, measure my progress, and ensure I’m on the right path for my goals. This process has helped me course-correct and refocus on what truly matters—building deeper, more meaningful relationships. I’m incredibly grateful for the people I’ve met along the way. 🙏 So many have been accessible, welcoming, and generous with their time and knowledge. Now, it’s time to go deeper, not wider. The first chapter of this journey was all about growth and learning. I’ve done a video in my group on the power of a community Here’s my attempt to summarise and shed some light on what to look for when joining a group. You must have seen this before: “Join this community, we got this and that and blah blah blah…” Or at the very least heard the advice: “Surround yourself with people that motivate you” or “You the average of the 5 people you spending the most time with” (By the way, no amount of quotes will actually save you) Why should you care being part of a group? Let’s be real, beyond the business and financial side of it, I want to give you an insight of how being part of a community can positively impact your life, regardless of the challenges you're facing. Here are the key things you should look for when joining a group and how they can benefit you if you take full advantage: 1️⃣ Real people walking the walk: Whatever you are facing, you can lean on the experiences of others that have gone through it, this will accelerate your growth 2️⃣ Like-minded Environment: Being in a place that inspires you, celebrate you and you are free to talk about your passions without feeling ‘out of place’ will strengthen your persona, standards and self-confidence 3️⃣ Accountability: Having people around who want more for you and push you to show up and leverage all the resources in the community is the single most powerful form of accountability. No baby sitting on your neck if you don’t get s*it done, just a group of people who take responsibility for where they are at in life and do something to improve it. 4️⃣ A strong sense of belonging, connection and safety: pretty straightforward, this one alone will 10x your happiness, emotional well-being, protection and opportunities for more personal and business growth. These are the foundations we’ve built and continue to improve at Freedom Warriors. But remember, not all communities are built equal! Anyone can quickly figure out any second agenda or if they have your best interests at heart…

A successful community is an asset to its founder... ...because when the members are being called upon, they will all show up. But the success the community has attained didn't happen in a day. It took months or maybe years of: ✅ commitment ✅ diligence ✅ actions ...from the founder or founding team to make the success a reality. In those months or years of commitment, diligence, and actions put in, there have been: — mistakes made, — team indecision, — a series of strategies leveraged, and probably a lot more that has happened. However, all that didn't stop the vision the founder and team had for the community. This could be you today as a founder who is struggling with having to build a successful community. You should know that every thriving community you know of today once had its share of confusion, indecision from the team, failure, series of strategies, etc before it got to its success point. So don't be bothered by the challenges you could be facing right now. Instead, take a break along with your team to recharge for a while and come back with a renewed mind.
