I think this is a lovely connective post from Steven Bartlett. We FEEL bad before we start making positive changes that makes us feel better. The role of cortisol (our stress hormone) in this case, makes us feel bad because it’s prompting us to do something differently. A different job that’s maybe more fulfilling? More social connection? A more balanced life of work, rest, play? Our chemicals are messengers so when we pay attention to the messages and then take action rather than ignoring them, one day you’ll look back and realise that feeling low was the pivotal turning point… where it all started. Want some help figuring it all out and getting some clarity? Email kirstie@kirstiesalter.co.uk and set up a free consultation.
Not so many years ago, I was working in a LateRooms.com call centre in Manchester on Christmas Day, booking people into hotel rooms. I went home after that shift to a small room in mossside, on my own. I remember feeling pretty low as I scrolled through Instagram, seeing how seemingly perfect everyone else’s Christmas Day appeared. It only seemed to magnify the areas of my life that were lacking, making me feel inadequate, unfortunate, and sad. To those of you who don’t feel great today for any reason: I know exactly how you feel. It’s important to realise that life is lived in seasons, and this is just one season of many in your life. This season will serve to make you feel even more grateful and fortunate when you move into the next one, filled with many of the beautiful things you’re hoping for. Life can change so quickly. Even within a year, things can look unrecognisably different. I am so thankful for all of my seasons - they all gave me important gifts I could not see at the time. 🎁

If it feels impossible, but inexplicably plausible at the very same moment, that signals our positive and optimistic neurons to fire and wire together —making new channels, pathways, and trails for wonderful neurological growth. Basically, this helps me feel better about myself and my abilities and capacities to accept the storms and the seasons for what they are —experiences within an abundantly challenging and beautiful Life. Neutral stimuli may simply be observed. If you are making efforts to feel and think better and create successful, strengthening, progressive, and prosperous loops within your heart, mind, gut, and soul; know that I'm here doing the very same work. To achieve greater brain to heart, to gut, and back up to brain health, with excellent cognition, emotional self-regulation, and a balanced state of peace, respect, dignity, care, and compassion for yourself and your soul: Please keep going through behavioural change with me and Others. We can do this and celebrate the fresh wins together: Thank you Steven Bartlett

We highly value family time and understand that even minor accidents and injuries can have major impacts on your role in your family. If an injury has impacted your life and your family, let us help guide you through it.
Having a work/life balance is so important to me. This past weekend, my wife and I took the kids to go get their picture taken with Santa. This is a family tradition and we use the picture for our Christmas card every year. I'm beyond grateful that I am able to prioritize my family. What are you thankful for this week? #thankfulthursday

Enjoying the company of colleagues is paramount to me. Sharing both highs and lows creates strong bonds. Remember, we often spend more time with our workmates than with family. It's vital to foster a positive environment. Imagine dreading work due to unpleasant colleagues. Let's ensure our workplace is one of enjoyment and camaraderie. #TeamSpirit #WorkCulture

I am so grateful for the multitude of experiences and opportunities throughout my life that have brought me so much joy. 🙌 Travel, new opportunities, seeing concerts and attending events, adventures with friends, being part of organizations that molded me professionally, and volunteer roles that have allowed me to give back to others. On the topic of joy, I recently saw the Rolling Stones in concert. 🎸It was a bucket list item for me (thank you, husband!) and was in awe of how much the entire band brought to the performance--especially after being in the business for seven decades. Most of us won’t be in the same gig for 60+years--not even close. The new reality is that most of us will need to reinvent ourselves or pivot to a new path--maybe even several times. This can feel like a letdown and disorientating. And not the plan we had envisioned. To paraphrase the Stones, we can’t always get what we want, and many times we can’t get no satisfaction. To find gratitude in those moments is hard. Getting off cruise control and pushed into a new lane can create opportunities for growth and learning new things. I’m grateful (sometimes belatedly) for times when I was forced out of my comfort zone, and grateful to have a bank of experiences and moments of joy to call on when the future feels cloudy and there are uncertain times ahead. Having an attitude of gratitude takes intention, but a reminder that we can do hard things. Let’s #KeepGoing together! #AttitudeofGratitude #MonthofGratitude #Intentions #Pivots
