The Eastern Cape Department of Health will cascade the approach to 3,000 Community Health Workers in its partnership with the charity One to One Children’s Fund. Up to 450,000 people in underserved communities will now benefit through 50 Master Trainers sharing the methodology.   One to One is hoping to see the adoption of this model across South Africa and its sub Saharan neighbours through government partnerships. In the region, women and girls account for 62% of all new HIV infections.

🔮Looking to the future 🔮 Do we have the #funding and #pipeline to meet the needs of people living with #HIV in low- and middle-income countries?💰 💊 💉 🔬 📢 I'll be presenting insights to this question at International AIDS Society #AIDS2024 tomorrow at poster THPEE559. 🔍We examined the R&D investment landscape and assessed pipeline candidates against available R&D priorities to determine whether the products in development address low- and middle-income country needs and if there is sustainable funding for such research and development. 🗣 Come say hello and find out key insights!

As milestone deadlines approach, such as the #UNAIDS Global #AIDS Strategy targets for 2025 and the health-related #SDGs in 2030, I am often asked my opinion about the state of the #HIV response. I am trying to remain optimistic, though we are clearly off track and facing some strong headwinds (e.g., indifference, intolerance, inequalities, inequities). Here are a few thoughts I plan to elaborate upon in an upcoming publication focused on where we may find ourselves on Dec. 31, 2030.

Let us pledge to fight with AIDS and not with the people who are suffering from AIDS. Let us pledge to stand against AIDS and with people who have AIDS.
