When you have a new arrival or a product launch, lean on impulse buyers. … and maybe throw on a limited-time offer if you really want to seal the deal. New arrivals and product launches are SURPRISINGLY underutilized in the wine industry, imo. I can’t tell you how many wineries I’ve talked with who have new wines or experiences on their website that they have NEVER told their subscribers about. Very few of your customers will visit your website on their own to seek out your wines - send a new arrival or product launch email campaign to get more awareness and ultimately, more ecommerce! Missed our recent video and blog post about this? 🍷 The boxed wine revolution is finally happening in the US! As someone who had their "aha moment" over a decade ago while enjoying a stellar boxed rosé at the PIERRE AMADIEU estate in Gigondas, France, I've long advocated for premium wines in this format. Wine Business Monthly reports that established producers like Tablas Creek Vineyard and Bedrock Wine Co. , along with innovative newcomers like Juliet and Really Good Boxed Wine , are seeing tremendous success. The numbers speak for themselves - some producers have doubled production to meet demand, with boxes selling out in hours. Why it matters: - 50% cost savings on packaging - 84% lower carbon footprint - Weeks of freshness after opening - Equal quality to bottle formats France gets it - 44% of their wine sales are boxed. It's time we embrace this sustainable, practical packaging for wines meant to be enjoyed young. What are your thoughts on premium boxed wines? Have you tried any standouts lately? #WineIndustry #Sustainability #WineBusiness #Innovation

🍷 Exciting Trends in Wine for 2024: The Rise of Neo-Négociants! 🌟 In the dynamic world of wine, a fascinating trend is set to emerge in 2024: the rise of the neo-négociants. But what exactly does this mean? Well, a négociant typically refers to a wine producer who doesn't grow their own grapes but sources them from various skilled winemakers. However, the neo-négociant takes it a step further – mastering both the art of winemaking and the savvy of a merchant, offering a diverse selection of terroirs to choose from. As this trend gains momentum, you may start seeing the code "RM" (Récoltant Manipulant) more frequently on wine bottles. But what does this code signify? These seemingly small letters hold significant importance, indicating whether the wine is an anonymous commercial blend, a bottling from a winegrowers' cooperative, or a personal producer's creation. For wine enthusiasts, understanding this distinction adds depth to their appreciation, as it reflects the wine's origin and quality. Now, we're curious – do you always pay attention to the RM code when selecting wines? 🍇 Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! #NeoNégociants #WineTrends2024 #RMCode #WineEnthusiasts #PalTank

Nice graphical representation of how weekly trade volume has changed in Q1 2024 in the #finewine world. #bordeaux has been the dominant region so far this year, as buyers flock to pick up the perceived value from buying key vintages from 'safe haven' chateau. Recent releases of #supertuscans helped propel Tuscany to a solid 3rd in the rankings for the most part, whilst traditional regions such as #burgundy and #champagne have fluctuated. #alternativeassets #datavisualisation #wineinsights
With Q1 2024 now behind us, and ahead of the release of our Quarterly Report in the coming days, we've taken a look at how the regional fine wine trade volumes have changed by week so far this year. > #bordeaux has remained the top region across weekly trading throughout Q1 > #burgundy has fluctuated the most, but has peaked recently in March > #tuscany has, for the majority, placed third in the regional listings, showing the continued popularity of #italianwines > #champagne has moved between 6.8% and 11.4% of share throughout the quarter > #USA wines from the #napavalley peaked in February around the releases of the 2021 Screaming Eagle. Keep an eye out for our Quarterly Report which has much more detail on both regional trends and which wines have outperformed the market in Q1. #finewine #marketinsights #alternativeassets #investments

This graphic highlights the importance of diversification across the key regions we focus on to capitalise on the trends in the fine wine market. We recommend a 3 to 5 year hold because wine appreciates gradually in value, most of the action when it hits the drinking windows, so this is an excellent snap shot. Last weeks’ highlights according to Liv-Ex (the principal Fine Wine exchange): - Burgundy saw the most significant increase in weekly trade share by value this week. - This week’s most traded wines by value and volume hailed from Bordeaux and Tuscany. In the latest market report we are about to publish we cover all major regions. Although Burgundy has seen some significant price pressure of late, the headline above suggests that investors are seizing the opportunity to pick up wines at excellent value. Our allocations of Super Tuscans got snapped up in a matter of days, and our investors are balancing their portfolios seeking stability and reliability with our Bordeaux offerings. Worth noting the commemorative bottle Angelus are releasing to celebrate the excellent 2022 vintage (see below). To find out what we would recommend please get in touch. #finewine #alternativeassets #investing #passionassets

Who loves sherry? Did you know that Sherry is expected to be the biggest growing part of the wine market between now and 2028? With so many different styles of sherry available, there is always something for everyone. In Spain for example, we tend to associate sherry with being a drier-style wine; whereas in the UK, USA or Germany (the largest markets for generous wines at present), sherry is generally known for being a sweet wine. In a market-driven shift towards drier wines, let's not forget the traditional styles. These wines are most definitely wines of the future that look into the past, and they most definitely deserve the recognition for it. Meanwhile, there is a single present moment, and so... let's drink them! Do you want to learn more about sherry? Write any questions you have in the comments and let's begin the journey together! #sherry #winetrends #fortifiedwine

Interesting study recently from the wine industry (https://lnkd.in/g-CuCBhB). Consumer demand appears to be gravitating toward white wines and away from reds. Why? A couple of reasons. #1, the omnipresent inflationary economy every American has been experiencing at grocery stores and in restaurants during the last three years has made white wines a more budget conscience choice for consumers than the higher priced red wines. #2, white wines are a better culinary match with many of the trends for food at our kitchen tables and at hospitality establishments. At IBA, a regional business brokerage firm with seven offices in Washington & Oregon that has served the alcohol manufacturing and hospitality industries since 1975, it is our job to identify the challenges & opportunities in business models. It is always an interesting sight to see vineyards converting from growing one type of grape to another influenced by consumer trends. If you are interested in selling or buying a business, our team would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and share our knowledge. All conversations with IBA are held in strict confidence.
