U.S. Army Center for Initial Military Training’s Post

Maj. David Nixon, 18th Field Artillery Brigade, recently sat down with Muscle & Fitness to discuss how he is helping change the culture within the US Army on healthy sleep habits by working with the Brigades Holistic Health and Fitness, #H2F, Human Performance Team. “Sleep’s benefits are too vast, and detriment is too comprehensive to be ignored by the military,” said Nixon. In the 2021 Health of the Force Report, the Army Public Health Center found that only 38% of soldiers attained seven or more hours of sleep, and the CDC recommended the amount of sleep needed daily. Prioritizing holistic health and readiness enables our Soldiers to be more lethal and survivable on the battlefield when their nation calls. Quite possibly the greatest challenge within holistic wellness that the Army must address with its Soldiers right now!
