The recent wildfires in California have resulted in a profound tragedy, affecting both people and animals in ways we are only beginning to comprehend. In response, Midtown CEO and Founder, Helen Stefan, is pledging a 10x match all of employee donations, up to $25k, to the following two organizations that are working tirelessly on the frontlines of recovery. 1. Pasadena Humane has taken in hundreds of animals affected by the fires, and they urgently need financial support to cover critical medical care and resources for the growing number of injured, burned, and displaced animals. The devastating Los Angeles Fires of 2025 have left an indelible mark on our collective conscience. While the climate crisis dialogue is crucial, today I want to focus on immediate action we can take to help those affected – specifically, pets and their families. As most of you know, I'm a helicopter dog dad who spends about as much time talking about my dog Lincoln as I do sustainability. Our pets are our friends, silent confidants, comedians, activity partners, and loving snugglers. Yet, in times of disaster, our four-legged family members often face unique challenges. Emergency shelters and temporary housing often don't accept pets, forcing families to make impossible choices. Some pets are separated from their owners during evacuations, while others arrive at shelters with severe injuries. This is where Pasadena Humane is making a remarkable difference. They've already provided sanctuary to over 100 animals – from household pets to a pony – and continue to offer emergency boarding for evacuated families. The lines of people seeking safe haven for their pets tell a powerful story of both crisis and hope.
