Here's the problem with this post. If Education is like a baseball game - then it seems to forget that baseball games need TEAMS to survive. And there is NO TEAM in education. Tossing parents, students and teachers into the deep end and saying to them, "SWIM, SWIM" is not the same as forming a real team that works toward a common goal. Ive worked in K12 education for the last 20 years. Ive visited hundreds of schools. I have talked to thousands of educators. And what I see across the country is a LACK OF TEAMWORK. That's not the teachers fault. That's not the Principals fault. That's not the parents fault - and shame on you for blaming the students. This is the GOVERNMENT'S FAULT - 100%. The US Dept of Education's policy and agenda is ACTIVELY seeking to destroy our schools and prevent TEAMS from forming. So what say you Dept of Ed??

Recently I worked on an extended project with Substantial to predict what the future of math could look like when designed for Black, Latino/a, and low-income children. Considering ALL stakeholders in the education ecosystem was major for our design process. We looked at the teaching & learning of math from multiple angles to try to get an understanding of the pain points, possible solutions, and the needed imaginations for a better math experience. That life changing work (one of my best working experiences) shifted my gaze a few steps back from the student. I have to look at the big picture. The students, teachers, administrators, parents, siblings, government, non-profits, community members, etc. Everyone has a foot in how math education is shaped right in this moment. Which means we all play a role in how we take the next step forward to make equitable and fun teaching and learning experiences for our marginalized youth. #Math #MathEducation #Black #Latino #Latina #StudentsOfColor #DesignResearch

As administrators, our days are packed with several scheduled meetings and many more unexpected moments! Here are 5 easy ways to stay visible around the building even when you're strapped for time! 1. Visit lunch periods 2. Stand in busy hallways during transitions 3. Walkthrough classrooms 4. Join a team planning meeting 5. Check your emails somewhere outside of your office The next time you have 5-10 free minutes, do one of these things, and I bet you'll make a positive connection with a student, staff member, or parent! What else do you do to stay visible during the day? National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)

2wThe difference is High School principals typically think they work harder, have a harder job & elementary principal principals just play all day.
