Another solid win I’m excited to share!! I have a client in a niche industry whose options for viable carriers has been limited for quite a while. Unfortunately for them, it meant that they were at the mercy of one particular carrier who is a monopoly in their specific line of work. That carrier knew that they were the best option at the time and took advantage of this by raising premiums year over year, unwilling to negotiate the cost for clients like mine who have a clean loss history and manage their risks very well. When I took over the policy, I committed to the client that I would find them a better, more affordable option. I didn’t know how, but I was determined. It took a year of conversations with carriers who normally wouldn’t look at this industry. It took some deep-diving into industry class codes to determine if there were more appropriate ways we could be coding this company to improve their rates. It took some strategic planning with underwriters that I’d built solid relationships with. At the end of this renewal term, by the skin of our teeth, we were able to convince a new carrier to give them a shot. That carrier identified that my client is a company worth betting on, and offered them broader coverage with no gaps or compromises, saving them $10k on their premium. In addition to that, the carrier has good, local people who are available to support my client when needed. Best of all… we got to tell their old carrier to shove it, right before they renewed with yet another large increase in premium. THIS is why I love my job.

Funny, isn't it? After the tort reforms passed nearly 300k lawsuits were noticed from plaintiffs attys proving they were concerned that the reforms would work in stopping their frivolous suits. Then, they teamed up with PA's and contractors claiming that the reforms weren't working and should be repealed. Now, it appears, right on time (18 months) the reforms are working just as promised. And, not only that; they are serving as a template for the rest of America. IT'S ABOUT TIME! Say what you want--but Florida passed the most comprehensive tort reform in its history, and perhaps also in American history. And now we know THE REFORMS WORKED and not to trust those who've been blaming the crisis on bad behavior by insurers. Especially the APA (American Policyholders Association) whose bogus report on insurer complaints has been entirely debunked. Read/watch the report below by WPTV to see what is just the beginning of the good news. Then, buy my book https://lnkd.in/eWa9RbTQ for complete documentation on what attys, PA's and contractors were doing. 19 Florida insurers file for rate decreases or no increases in 2024 (wptv.com).

Looking forward to attending this and discussing the provision of insurance options for ISDS claims - when third party funding proves too challenging because funders get too greedy or the case budget is too high, it would be worth considering insurance of the law firm's WIP, of own costs or adverse costs . Things to think about. LAKEHOUSE RISK SERVICES LIMITED #insurance #arbitration #thirdpartyfunding #GAR
