Tilt Renewables’ Snowtown Wind Farm is located 5km west of Snowtown and 170km north of Adelaide in South Australia. The wind farm is positioned on the Barunga and Hummocks Ranges which are part of a number of low-lying ridgelines running north-south in the mid-north region of the state. Stage 1 has been in operation since 2008 and consists of 48 turbines. It is connected into the South Australian electricity network through an onsite substation to the 132kV transmission line running along the western side of the ranges. Plans have been unveiled for what would be – by some distance – the biggest wind project on Australia’s main grid, a five gigawatt (GW) proposal for north Queensland. The Bogunda wind farm has been unveiled by Australian developer Renewable Energy Partners (REP) and would be located in a region south-east of Hughenden, and would connect to the proposed new Copperstring transmission line that will link the coastal areas with the mineral-rich regions out towards Mount Isa. 📢 VicGrid, part of the Australian Victorian Government, has commenced an Expressions of Interest (EOI) process for the #Gippsland #OffshoreWind #Transmission Project. ⚡ The proposed scope of the project involves the delivery of a #highvoltage alternating current overhead transmission line from an onshore connection hub for offshore wind projects, six kilometres inland near Giffard, to a grid connection substation near the Loy Yang Power Station. 🤝 The project is being procured as a #PublicPrivatePartnership with an Incentivised Target Cost regime during the delivery phase.
