This story takes me back to December 2019, nearly five years ago. We were filling a position and came across a profile with a strikingly simple headline: “Total work experience of a little less than 5 years with 4 companies.”
Admittedly, I hesitated. But curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to meet her. I asked her just one question: “Why did you leave each of your previous organizations?” She answered with complete honesty. Her transparency resonated with us, and we decided to bring her on board.
Fast forward to today: in just a few days, she will be celebrating her 5th work anniversary at Amway.
On a personal note, my approach to employee retention is straightforward—get to know your team members deeply. There’s no “one size fits all” formula. Each person is driven by different motivations: financial stability, work-life balance, recognition, challenging assignments, or something entirely unique. Understanding these nuances is key to building strong, lasting teams.
