🎄 Let’s keep it festive, not feisty, this holiday season! 🍹 As the holiday spirit flows, it’s easy to forget that workplace Christmas parties are still... well, work! Even though the tinsel is sparkling, it’s good to remember that our behaviour reflects the same standards we follow in the office. 💡 A quick reminder: The Fair Work Commission once had to step in after an employee’s festive enthusiasm got a little out of hand (read: inappropriate comments, unwanted kisses, and too many drinks 🍻). The outcome? A big lesson for all of us about how these events should be fun and professional and employers need to follow process. So let’s: ✨ Celebrate the year’s wins 🍰 Enjoy good food (and maybe limit the open bar) 🚕 Plan our safe journey home Remember—keeping things merry but respectful ensures we all enjoy the festivities without any January surprises! Here’s to a joyful, memorable (for the right reasons!) end-of-year celebration. 🥂 #WorkplaceEtiquette #HolidayCheer #ChristmasParty #HRReminders #Businessary #necessaryforbusiness

We didn't have an Athena Stonecare Ltd. Christmas Party this year. But it's not because I'm mean, or tight fisted or a 'Scrooge'. It's certainly not because I am not grateful to the team or that they don't deserve a reward or a thank you. The simple reason it that it just down to timing. We had a date booked in that suited everyone and then one of the team was poorly. This fell on the planned 'party day' but also had the knock on effect of extending a project and ruling out other options to get together. With lots of odd days booked by as Annual leave in December (not to mention meetings and networking that I'd committed to), we ended up without a date that everyone could do. However, it hasn't stopped me feeling guilty. We've all had that 'FOMO' feeling when we see others enjoying something that we're not a part of, but it turns out that the feeling is 100 times worse when you see every other business owner throwing their team a party and you feel like you're the only one not doing. So here's a reminder for anyone that just didn't quite get it all to work out this year - you are not the only one. Whilst Christmas/ the end of the year is a great time to say thank you, don't forget that you can do this all year round. We have tried to ensure our team know that they are valued each week and month with early finishes, treats sent to site and bonus schemes. And of course, I'll be hoping that they are all doing Dry Jan for when we reschedule in 2025! #teamwork #smallbusiness #womeninbusiness

🎄 A Christmas Guide to Staying Classy at the Office Party 🎉 Christmas parties are a great opportunity to celebrate with your team and unwind after a busy year—but remember, this is still a professional setting. Maintaining a level of decorum is key to ensuring the night is enjoyable without risking your reputation. Here are some tips to help you stay classy: ✅ Know Your Limits: Enjoy the festivities, but pace yourself with food and drinks. Alcohol can lower inhibitions, and nothing good comes from being “that person” at the party. ✅ Leave on Time: Staying too late can blur the lines between professionalism and personal relationships. Head home before the night takes a turn. ✅ Keep it Professional: Partying with your boss and colleagues isn’t the same as celebrating with family or friends. Be mindful of your words and actions—everything is noticed more than you think. ✅ Avoid Compromising Situations: Getting overly familiar with a co-worker can have long-term repercussions. A momentary lapse in judgment could lead to professional and reputational damage that’s hard to undo. ✅ Remember Social Media: Be cautious about posting or being tagged in party pictures or videos. What seems fun in the moment may not sit well with clients, managers, or colleagues the next day. The office party is meant to be a celebration, not an opportunity to lose control. Stay classy, respect yourself and others, and you’ll walk away with your dignity—and your career—intact. #WorkplaceEtiquette #ChristmasPartyTips #StayClassy #Professionalism #LilacHR
